Senior Java Developer develops, implement and support of back-end software components for mission-critical payment processing platforms.
Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a hybrid model.
Reporting Relationship: You will report to Manager, Software Development and Architecture.
Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

Design and develop backend and microservices applications ensuring all components follow an evolving architecture which meets our requirements

Work with both internal groups and external vendors/stakeholders to develop solutions

Lead the full stack and entire lifecycle of key software applications, from the roadmap to the design/architecture to implementation and iterative development and deployment.

Lead and/or provide design input into new projects; turn informed ideas to develop successful software

Create complex software solutions that have broad organizational or client impact.

Provide organizational consulting, advice and education on capabilities; modelling and development methodology, including design and coding standards

Create documentation for these standards

Investigate issues and recommend/define solutions informed by internal consultation and external research (e.g., stakeholders/industry trends / third-party suites)

Conduct product reviews to ensure functionality meets future user/client requirements. Conceive new features or re-architecting areas for user and performance improvement

Discover and validate the true requirements and underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet timelines
Your Moneris Career - What you bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent experience in a Technology or business environment
-
4+ years of experience working in software development, design, business intelligence environments, or data architecture environments
-
3+ years of hands-on experience with Java
-
2+ years of Java Micro-service and Spring boot framework experience to design, develop, and test RESTful APIs with JSON payloads

High proficiency in leading large-scale projects or significant project steps and communicating progress/approach with technical/non-technical peers/clients and leaders

Experience in Microsoft SQL Server or an equivalent RDBMS.

Experience with in-memory storage and messaging bus components such as Redis and Kafka is an important asset

Experience in Kubernetes and Docker is an important asset

Experience in Cloud services and solution development in Microsoft Azure is considered an asset.

Familiar with Agile and DevOps concepts including tools such as Gitlab, Nexus, Ansible and Jira
