About the Role!
We’re teaming up with a global fintech leader to build a guided, data-seeded demo experience that lets prospective clients explore the core platform before they buy. You’ll be the senior front-end engineer on a small, cross-functional squad charged with shipping the MVP. The codebase is a modern Ember.js app connected to a large Java REST back end. You’ll own rich UI flows, inject realistic demo data, and ensure the experience mirrors production quality.
Who You Are:
- Ember-fluent. You have deep experience with Ember.js (or can ramp up fast) and know its conventions inside out. No back-end development required—your focus is 100% front end.
- Design-system champion. You’re comfortable building and extending component libraries, token-based theming, and responsive layouts.
- UX-centric. You think in flows and micro-interactions—accessibility and performance are always top of mind.
- Ownership-oriented. You unblock yourself, keep scope laser-focused, and communicate progress proactively across time zones (US & LATAM).
- Collaborative communicator. You enjoy partnering with designers and PMs, giving/receiving feedback, and demoing work early and often.
What You'll Do:
Revamp & Refactor
- Audit the existing Ember codebase, identify modernization opportunities, and break work into incremental PRs.
- Seed the environment with internally consistent fake data for realistic demos.
Implement the Design System
- Build reusable, documented components (with Storybook or similar) that adhere to brand guidelines and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Collaborate with designers to evolve tokens, variants, and interaction patterns as real-world needs emerge.
Ensure Quality & Maintainability
- Write robust unit, integration, and visual regression tests.
- Champion best practices in code reviews, linting, performance profiling, and CI/CD.
Collaborate & Deliver
- Pair with client engineers, designers, and PMs to refine scope.
- Demo progress weekly, iterate on feedback, and hit the January launch window.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years professional front-end experience with SPAs; 2+ years working extensively in Ember.js (or demonstrably fast ramp-up)
- Hands-on experience rolling out or evolving a design system (tokens, theming, documentation).
- Strong grasp of state management, component architecture, and automated testing.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+), performance budgeting, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Bonus: experience migrating legacy Ember apps to Octane/Glimmer components or TypeScript.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team.
- Proactive and adaptable to a fast-paced development environment - especially vital on a six-month runway.
