Job Description

AECOM’s Technology Solutions Group (TSG) is seeking a Senior Fiber Design Engineer to join our ICT Team. This position is a remote working situation.    

Our Senior Fiber Design Engineer will assist in the execution of a major fiber infrastructure standards initiative. This role will focus in updating OSP standards, creating technical schematics, and ensuring design consistency across projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in outside plant (OSP) fiber design and standards development.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in updating OSP standards and specifications to align with program requirements.
  • Develop technical schematics, typical drawings, and photo documentation for standards refresh.
  • Provide engineering input for QA/QC processes and compliance reviews.
  • Support governance activities by preparing technical documentation for expedited approvals.
  • Collaborate with CAD/BIM specialists to produce accurate and accessible design deliverables.
  • Participate in training initiatives by providing technical expertise and clarifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • University Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • 8+ years related experience in OSP fiber design and standards development.
  • Registered Professional in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to quickly obtain EGBC registration with registration in another Canadian jurisdiction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in fiber network architecture and OSP engineering.
  • Ability to assist in documentation refresh and design QA.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication abilities.
  • PMP certification or project coordination experience.
  • Familiarity with OSP standards and material specifications.
