As a Senior Data Scientist in PCIS Advanced Analytics, you will contribute on various initiatives while also supporting the team through coaching on clever use of data and advanced analytics. You will be responsible for providing significant business value through the creation; maintenance; implementation of analytical, predictive and machine learning models. As part of the PCIS Advanced Analytics team, you will focus on enabling new technologies and analytical tools within the organization, including generative AI.
How you will create impact:
- Coaching peers on the use of a scientific methodology in all projects, tasks, and interactions.
- Applying data science and statistical modeling techniques, using a solid understanding of actuarial concepts within P&C insurance domain.
- Defining the required models/technique to solve business problems and support other thorough the execution.
- Delivering and designing deliver and design production ready models and analytic solutions autonomously.
- Designing data science projects by breaking complex problems or high-level business objectives into smaller problems that can be addressed using data science.
To join our team:
- You have 6-9 years of experience in Data Science or Actuarial Science. Having experience in the P&C insurance industry is a requirement.
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or any other relevant field. Having completed Graduate studies in any of the previous fields would be also seen as an asset.
- You have or are working towards an ACAS/ACIA or FCAS/FCIA designations would be considered an asset.
- You have full proficiency in data science with a proven track record in programming, using various statistical techniques, predictive modelling methods, and machine learning algorithms to achieve the expected outcome.
- You have the ability to apply data science and statistical modeling techniques with a solid understanding of actuarial concepts within the P&C insurance domain.
- You have strong knowledge and understanding of: Data analysis, Programing/tools, Modelling techniques, Research, Architecture/design.
- You have experience solving complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information and can provide clear recommendations for improvement.
- Proficiency in following technologies is required: Python, R and SQL
- Proficiency in the following technologies is an asset: Databricks
- This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Expected salary range $83,774 - $133,700+.
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
