The Data Engineering Team

Okta’s Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an 

easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers.  We make access to applications safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins around the world. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-Ø global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security so customers can focus on innovation.

Within the Data organization, the Data Engineering team is chartered with enabling customers and teams across our organization with accurate and reliable data about Okta’s Customer Identity product, and to make that data as easy to use as possible. By partnering with product and engineering, this team is responsible for creating a robust ecosystem of data tools, models, and products that allow for rapid, high quality analytics.

The Senior Data Engineer Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Data Engineering, this role will be responsible for creating the interfaces between our analytical data platform and the services, tools, and product features that provide insights to our customers and business partners. You will be part of a team of engineers that are creating robust, scalable data solutions using modern tools and technologies. By partnering with our Data Enablement and Machine Learning teams you will develop interfaces and integrations that power customer-facing features as well as critical business processes with a specific focus on customer usage and threat intelligence.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Develop, and operate highly scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that enables rich security, eventing, and analytics use cases
  • Evaluate and advocate for modern technologies to accelerate delivery and improve engineering efficiency
  • Coach and mentor other engineers to help scale up the team
  • Participate in team’s support rotation to build operational excellence on services we provide

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Passion for the data space and solid understanding of what it takes to build and operate secure, reliable systems at scale
  • 4+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience working with large scale data systems
  • Knowledge of data security and data privacy best practices
  • Excellence at creating clarity and alignment for complex technical initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and their practical application
  • Ability to deal well with ambiguity, ability to self-motivate, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

  • Familiarity with the Identity Access & Management (IAM) domain
  • Experience building developer-friendly, API-driven applications using REST and/or gRPC.

Below is the annual salary range for candidates located in Canada. Your actual salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP with a match, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in Canada is between:
$116,000$174,000 CAD
