You'll join a high impact team dedicated to delivering actionable business insight through data. We emphasize a culture of proactive analysis and data storytelling –collaborating with stakeholders to drive smarter decisions.

Are you passionate about data, with superior insight analytical, data exploration, modeling, and visualization skills? If so, consider applying your expertise to a Senior Data Analyst position in the Growth Analytics & Data Solutions team in Group Retirement Services (GRS).

Reporting to the Director, Sponsor Data Insights and Products, the Senior Data Analyst will lead the development of new insights initiatives. This includes leading proactive and ad hoc insight projects, delivering clear, data-driven recommendations to drive incremental AUA, and creating self-serve solutions for GRS.

Our growing mandate to deliver analytics solutions requires an experienced analyst to accelerate the development of our strategic analytics projects, mentor peers, and support our stakeholders.

What you need to succeed:

  • Lead proactive and ad hoc insight initiatives, delivering clear, data-driven recommendations to drive incremental AUA
  • Develop and sustain a data-driven culture, mentoring peers and promoting insight-first thinking
  • Utilize SQL, Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and statistical methods to extract, analyze, and interpret data from multiple sources
  • Create compelling data stories using data visualization tools and present findings to stakeholders including senior leadership
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams (marketing, finance, UX, etc.) to align business questions with analytical solutions
  • Develop measures of success for key initiatives and enable self-service tracking
  • Support omni-channel performance analysis, with a strong focus on digital
  • Translate complex data into actionable strategies and tactics

Preferred skills:

  • Bachelor's (or higher) in a quantitative field: Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related
  • At least 5 years' experience in insights or analytics
  • Strong SQL capability and experience with statistical analysis (hypothesis testing, regression, etc.). Exploratory data analysis (EDA)
  • Proven strength in data storytelling and visualization with CRM Analytics and/or Tableau) — transforming complex findings into clear dashboards and narratives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to variety of audiences including leadership
  •  Demonstrated ability to work proactively, manage ambiguity, and drive change through insight

As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life in advance of the start date

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
