Do you want to join the Finance team of one of the most exciting space companies at the forefront of global change detection/change monitoring? We are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant who will be responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions. This is a Vancouver-based hybrid position, with some in-office work required. Candidates must have full-time availability during the business hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required.

Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with other members of the Finance team, the Sr Corporate Accountant is a hands-on role responsible for day-to-day accounting transactions, maintaining the general ledger, processing month-ends, and other duties to support the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation with full-cycle supervisory accounting experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment. Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to work closely with finance, sales, and customer service while also reviewing work completed by Accounting Technicians, overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, and working with external tax advisors and auditors.
Responsibilities include:
General Ledger/Day-to-Day Accounting
- Overall maintenance of GL for parent company and subsidiaries
- Review work completed by the Accounting Technicians, including monthly journal entries, working papers and GL account reconciliations; etc. Review monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare month-end working papers and reconciliations
- Maintain capital asset sub-ledger and record monthly depreciation
- Oversee accounts payable and ensure accuracy (POs, payment runs, and proposed payment listing; maintain familiarity with vendors, overdue payments, etc.)
- Review coding on corporate credit card statements & expense reports
- Review and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure reporting is up to date
- Review HubSpot and Maxio for new deals won, update billing, and review revenue reconciliation
- Prepare/review customer invoices as required
- Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between finance, sales, and customer service teams to ensure accurate and timely billing.
- Prepare month-end journal entries (revenue, cost of sales, accruals, currency revaluation etc.) and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Process month-end close in the ERP system, consolidation entries, FX translation, and assess completeness of close, journal and rec checklists etc.
- Prepare certain month-end WPs & reconciliations; bonus, vacation, prepaids, revenue accrual, deferred and unbilled revenue, professional fees, accrued liabilities, labour reclass, APIC contributions, commissions accrual, Actual to budget analysis, reconcile intercompany balances, prepare quarterly management fees and recharges)
- Prepare AR listings for month-end reporting deck
- Prepare monthly Fixed Assets and Intangibles continuity working papers
- Prepare monthly consolidated financials statements including consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
- Prepare financial statement note disclosure for capital assets, intangible assets and other notes as assigned and assist with preparation of audit working papers
- Lead year end audit requests for relevant areas of the GL and/or entities
- Assist with preparation of FS notes in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Assist with preparation of corporate tax returns and providing backup to external tax advisors
- Prepare GST/PST/US Sales tax returns & other misc. filings
- Prepare year-end tax note WP & disclosure
- Review/prepare payroll journal, ensuring appropriate accruals are recorded
- Ensure sufficient funds in bank accounts on payroll & benefit funding dates Collaborate with Humi on manae monthly and quarterly EHT accruals, including preparing accrual working papers and journal entries, while ensuring sufficient funds are available for quarterly EHT payments.
- Assist with process improvements to accounting processes and ensure coding is according to budget
- Provide guidance, support and coverage to Accounting Technicians as required
- Assist in new accounting software implementation
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional accounting designation (or final stage) or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting, or public practice experience in a supervisory/review capacity; high-tech experience desirable
- Experience with ERPs (NetSuite); QBO, Tipalti, Maxio experience an asset
- Experience in dealing with multiple currencies and multi-entity environments
- Possess a strong technical accounting foundation with expertise in US GAAP, complemented by robust research skills to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting
- Detail-oriented and able to coordinate multiple activities at the same time

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven changing environment
Base Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000 CAD annually
The range of $80,000-$90,000 annually, depends on job-related skills, experience, training, education, location and business needs. The range is based on BC-derived compensation for this role. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Only in rare and exceptional circumstances, when a candidate has the experience, skills, and expertise to exceed those required for the position, would we consider paying at the top of the range for this role.
