As of December 31, 2024, Fiera Capital managed $167.1B CAD globally and $147.4B within public markets. Fiera Capital Public Markets features a robust platform across long only active equities, core, core plus, and global fixed income, as well as refined solutions-oriented offerings for defined benefit pension funds, insurers, and other multi-asset investors. 

With 115 institutional and intermediary clients onboarded in Western Canada, Fiera is accelerating its expansion by appointing a senior professional to deepen regional coverage. As part of our strategic growth plans, we are seeking a driven, entrepreneurial business development individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making a significant impact in pursuit of our ambitious goals. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a deep understanding of the Canadian institutional landscape and a proven track record in asset management sales.

Reporting into the Head of Public Markets Sales, Canada, the Senior Client Manager, Institutional and Intermediary Sales, will play a crucial role driving business development efforts for Fiera Capital’s public markets platform in Western Canada. The chosen candidate will work in close collaboration with the client coverage teams, Strategy Specialists, Heads of Consultant Relations, and the Investment teams.

There is a preference for this role that the individual be located in Western Canada, either working from our Calgary office or remotely from Vancouver.  Fiera will also consider candidates based in Toronto or Montreal, while considering relevant experience and client coverage history.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead new business development efforts with a focus on institutional and intermediary prospects in Western Canada for Fiera Capital Public Markets.

  • Develop and execute a clear sales strategy for Western Canada that is aligned with the broader Canadian growth objectives. Maintain accurate and timely reporting of sales activity, pipeline development and progress against relevant metrics.

  • Identify and generate new business opportunities and ensure revenue growth by prospecting, establishing, and maintaining strong relationships with Western Canadian pensions, endowments, foundations, Indigenous trusts, insurance general accounts, banks, independent wealth platforms, and other intermediaries.

  • In close collaboration with the Institutional Clients team, play an active role in cross-selling efforts for key existing clients characterized as Strategic Accounts.

  • Partner with the Head of Consultant Relations, Canada, to cover key investment consultants across Western Canada. 

  • Contribute to the production and development of business intelligence and executive reporting, related to sales and marketing activities, competitors, industry trends, etc.

  • Represent Fiera Capital to relevant industry conferences to increase brand awareness and engage with existing and prospective investors.

  • Cultivate strong internal relationships and stay current on firm strategy, investment strategies, and the competitive landscape.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, accounting, mathematics, actuarial);

  • CFA designation, graduate degree, or CIM designation a strong asset;

  • 7+ years of experience in the institutional investment management industry in client-facing roles.

  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian institutional market, with strong relationships in Western Canada considered a major asset;

  • Proven track record generating business growth with institutional investors in Canada, with preference for candidates also holding relevant intermediary experience;

  • Understanding of the Canadian intermediary market across banks, dealers and different opportunity sets (sub-advisory, SMA, funds, ETFs);

  • Exceptional organizational skills: technological and organizational capabilities to efficiently manage a large pipeline and consistently dispatch high quality and timely follow ups for highest priority opportunities;

  • Operates with diligence, urgency, and a proactive, client-first approach;

  • Strong ability to lead platform introduction meetings, single investment strategy meetings, due diligence exercises, and finalists;

  • Process-oriented: utilizes sales best practices to optimize for positive business development outcomes;

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independent and navigate a dynamic, growth-oriented environment;

  • Collaborative spirit with a proactive approach to problem-solving and knowledge sharing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications in English, French an asset.

For all positions in Quebec (Montreal and Laval), proficiency in French, both spoken and written, is mandatory. Working English proficiency is also required in order to serve our offices and clients around the world.
