Team Overview
The Strategy & Planning team serves as TransUnion’s internal strategy consulting function, partnering with senior leadership to shape enterprise and business unit direction, solve complex business challenges, and drive strategic growth. The team plays a critical role in enabling our CEO to deliver on his mandate, helping to develop corporate priorities, and translating them into actionable strategies. This team works on a broad range of strategic projects – including growth strategy, market expansion, product strategy, and transformation efforts. This is a newly created role, established as part of the expansion of the Strategy & Planning function to meet the growing demand for high-quality, data-driven strategic support across TransUnion Canada. This role reports directly to the Head of Strategy for TransUnion Canada and works closely with the Canada’s Senior Leadership Team, providing exposure to executives and enterprise-level decision-making This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
Strategy Development (50%)
- Lead and support the development of enterprise and business unit strategies focused on growth, innovation, transformation, and competitive differentiation
- Apply structured problem-solving, hypothesis-driven thinking, and rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis to diagnose business challenges and develop actionable strategic recommendations
- Build and evaluate business cases, including modeling revenue, margin, investment requirements, and ROI to inform decision-making and drive execution
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align on priorities, build consensus, and ensure adoption of strategic recommendations
- Develop clear, compelling, executive-ready materials (presentations, narratives, and frameworks) that translate complex analysis into insights and recommendations for senior leadership
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams, facilitate workshops, conduct stakeholder interviews, and host problem-solving sessions with senior leaders and subject matter experts
Annual Planning (30%)
- Drive the end-to-end annual strategic planning cycle in partnership with business leaders, translating enterprise priorities into actionable objectives and initiatives
- Develop planning frameworks, templates, and materials that structure strategic discussions and enable disciplined decision-making across the organization
- Facilitate alignment across enterprise and business units to ensure clarity of goals, resource prioritization, and execution accountability
- Conduct competitive intelligence, industry research, and benchmarking to identify emerging trends and assess their implications for TransUnion
Execution & Monitoring (20%)
- Synthesize progress updates and drive executive-level reporting to provide visibility into performance, initiative status, and strategic outcomes
- Escalate critical issues and recommend targeted interventions to accelerate execution and ensure strategic goals are achieved.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
- 8-10 years of experience in strategy / management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy roles – either at external firms or in-house teams
- Experienced strategy professional with the ability to independently lead complex projects and workstreams from scoping through execution, with minimal day-to-day direction
- Ability to anticipate next steps, surface insights, and identify risks or blockers early – taking initiative to resolve issues and keep projects moving at pace
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex, ambiguous challenges into structured, actionable components
- Hypothesis-driven approach to data analysis, with the ability to extract insights and visualize to tell a compelling story
- Advanced financial modeling and research skills to size new opportunities and develop business cases
- Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal — with the ability to clearly structure messages and influence stakeholders
- High level of initiative and ownership; thrives in a small, fast-paced team environment
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience in financial services, information services, or digital industries is an asset
The expected pay range for this position is $144,000 - $180,000 annually. The pay information provided for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of expected compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of many factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. In addition, variable compensation is based on applicable company guidance and plan documents as well as performance.
