Job Summary:

The Senior Accounting Manager will oversee the following general areas:
accounting operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, manage the audit and financial reporting, research and document technical accounting memos, manage treasury, ap, and procurement, and drive process improvements for Andela. This role requires a blend of technical and hands-on accounting expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to support the company’s financial growth and reporting accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Audit:

  • Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with US GAAP

  • Lead external audits and manage relationships with the auditors

  • Perform accounting research and prepare technical memos

  • Maintain effective internal controls

Accounting Operations & Process Improvements:

  • Maintain and update the chart of accounts

  • Coordinate the timely completion of the month-end close process

  • Ensure thorough documentation for balance sheet reconciliations

  • Conduct monthly P&L flux analysis

  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency

  • Work with financial systems to enhance automation

  • Assist in cap table maintenance and equity reporting

Treasury & Investments:

  • Oversee general cash management procedures

  • Manage bank transfers and maintain appropriate cash balances

  • Provide weekly cash reporting

Procurement & Accounts Payable

  • Ensure effective internal controls over company spending

  • Monitor accounts payable activities to ensure timely processing

  • Support vendor management and procurement process improvements

Tax & Compliance:

  • Oversee accurate tax filings and coordinate tax audits

  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations

  • Partner with tax consultants to leverage tax incentives

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, promoting accountability and professional growth

  • Provide ongoing training to keep the team updated with accounting standards

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

  • CPA certification required

Experience:

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP

  • Proficient with NetSuite & Coupa

  • Experience with FloQast, Carta, Teampay, & Asana is a plus

  • Advanced spreadsheet skills

  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset for process improvement

  • Experience working in private equity-backed or venture-funded technology companies preferred

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment with a hands-on approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity

  • High level of integrity and professionalism

We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range.
Pay Range
$150,000 - $170,000
