About The Company:

At Scribd (pronounced “scribbed”), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our four products: Everand, Scribd, Slideshare, and Fable.

We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.

When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections.  It’s through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees – in partnership with their manager – can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.

So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for “GRIT”. The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to.  Here’s what that means for you: we’re looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve Goals, achieve Results within their job responsibilities, contribute Innovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader Team through collaboration and attitude.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior User Researcher to play a critical role in defining the ongoing strategic opportunities for our UGC products. With an emphasis on generative and exploratory research methods, you will be at the helm of continuous evolution and impactful change. Your vision and strategy, grounded in deep user understanding, will chart the course for future innovation.

What you will do

• Help identify the questions we need to answer to move strategy and execution forward. Your insights and discoveries will help inform company strategy, product experiences, and long-term roadmaps.

• Play a critical role in advocating for and developing the strategic direction of the UGC brands, acting as both a thought leader and a thought contributor with brand and cross-functional team leadership.

• Design, scope, and run user research to fully learn the latent and unmet needs of Scribd and Slideshare users through creative research, spanning generative, iterative, and evaluative methods.

• Assist multiple product managers, designers, and other cross-functional stakeholders with a wide range of research needs, from large and generative to small and tactical.

• Make research findings relevant and impactful through crafted insights, decks, stories, videos, and testimonials–working to ensure team engagement in user research studies, and foster a common knowledge of research output to drive informed decision making.

• Build and implement innovative user research processes to meet our product delivery goals.

• Leverage company-provisioned AI tools to maximize efficiencies in research processes, always maintaining the appropriate level of human oversight necessary for critical research impact.

About you

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and conducting market/product/design research and be able to show how your work has had an impact. Have stories of how your research influenced product roadmaps and strategic initiatives, informed design outcomes, and impacted team processes.

•Confident navigating sometimes ambiguous opportunity spaces to extract key information that will help formulate a clear and compelling path forward.

• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of a range of qualitative UX research approaches and methodologies, as well as quantitative experience for conducting surveys at scale.

• BA/BS+ in Psychology, Social Science or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Proven ability to use human-centered insights to answer business questions.

•Strong collaboration skills and ability to lead cross-functional brainstorming sessions and strategic thought partnership.

• Comfort owning your own slice of the research roadmap and prioritizing your workload to meet shifting priorities.

Strong presentation skills with a creative and compelling storytelling style.

• Demonstrated capacity to work quickly and handle multiple research studies concurrently.
