We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our Antibody Purification team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will be responsible for purifying various antibody formats, analyzing material quality, and reporting results to program teams. You will work within a fast-paced, collaborative environment, interacting with a diverse team of scientists.

If you are a quick learner, a problem-solver, and possess strong scientific rigor, we want to hear from you!

How you might spend your days

  • Supporting antibody drug discovery programs by performing midscale antibody purification using instrumentation such as AKTA and Protein Maker preparative liquid chromatography systems
  • Conducting characterization of purified antibodies using analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE/CE-SDS, ultra high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) and endotoxin (LAL) tests
  • Collaborating with the Mass Spectrometry team to assess purified material quality
  • Preparing production data reports and presentations to communicate results and progress
  • Documenting research results accurately using an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)
  • Contributing to optimizing efficiency and speed in antibody production platform

We'd love to hear from you if

  • You are a creative problem solver and fast learner who values teamwork to tackle the most challenging scientific problems
  • You are self-motivated with the drive and initiative to meet goals within tight timelines
  • You hold a PhD in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Structural Biology or other relevant fields) or MSc with 5+ years in an academic or industry wet lab environment
  • You have a strong understanding and hands-on experience with protein purification techniques such as Affinity, IMAC, HIC and/or IEx chromatography, with antibody purification experience preferred
  • You have great interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team
  • You have meticulous documentation practices with strong attention to detail and organizational skills

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $75,100 - $93,800 annually, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base salary, we offer annual bonus dependent on team and company performance, a 6% (non-match) RRSP contribution, a CAD $1,500 annual Active Lifestyle Allowance, annual vacation, and comprehensive health benefits.
