Engineering Society of Queen's University
Queen's Vertical Farming Team Director (2026-2027 school year)
Vertical farming is an efficient, sustainable and high-tech cultivation method that can produce nutritious and healthy crops using 95% less water and 400 times less land than traditional agriculture. This approach can help address issues like food security, reduce the need for pesticides and herbicides, and enable year-round food production in any climate.
The Queens Vertical Farming Team (QVFT) is Canada’s first undergraduate club of its kind. Our mission is to develop a functional, small-scale vertical farm to explore sustainable solutions, advance research, and engage students from a wide range of disciplines in innovation. Drawing inspiration from the best current commercial practices, we plan to establish ourselves as innovators in this rapidly expanding industry.
As a QVFT General Director, you will have the opportunity to lead this initiative. You will coordinate with sub-team leaders (mechanical team, a stack team, a plant science team, and a business team), work on developing new multidisciplinary projects. This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience by leading a team of motivated students from a variety of disciplines!
Interviews will be conducted on Teams at a time that works for you :)
Applications are available until Monday, March 30th, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST.
Feel free to reach out to director.qvft@ engsoc.queensu.ca with any questions!
