Department OverviewEmergency Call Handling is the critical interface for the citizen into the command center, public safety workflow. Motorola Solution’s is the leading software developer and solution provider for Emergency Call Handling, the software that enables 911 centers to receive and process calls in Public Safety Answering Points across North America. The Emergency Call Handling solution team is one business sleeve of the Motorola Solutions Software Enterprise where innovation of workflow enhancements are being developed for call handling, incident management, responder dispatching and situational awareness. This software developer position will be a member of the team working on software applications for Public Safety Agencies.
The VESTA Analytics team is responsible for end-to-end software development including: design, implementation, testing, delivery and maintenance. Job Description
We're looking for a self-driven QA Engineer to take on a vital role in our software development quality assurance process.
As a QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in identifying and resolving defects, preventing them from reaching our end-users, and helping the team in improving the product quality.
You will be working with a small team of autonomous engineers and will be expected to elaborate test cases, generate reports (such as escape rate) and automate tests.
Your primary responsibilities include the analysis of bug reports and product specifications, execution of targeted test cases to confirm compliance with those reports and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong familiarity with SQL databases (MS SQL Server in particular), test automation and a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to demonstrate thoroughness in test execution and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of software quality.
Responsibilities:
Understand product requirements and matching test cases.
Understand expected product functionality and bug reports.
Elaborate test cases to cover existing and new functionality.
Setup Test Environment in preparation for test cases execution.
Execute test cases, analyze results and report all detected issues/defects.
Track reported issues/defects.
Write automated test cases to increase coverage and help increase product quality.
Collaborate with other team members and test managers.
Keep abreast of industry standards and newest testing methodologies and tools.
Support strategic team goals.
Provide technical know-how, documentation and training to test and other business functions.
Basic Requirements
B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field
2+ years experience in Quality Assurance testing or similar role.
Assurance testing or similar role.
Working Knowledge of test management SW (e.g. ALM).
Attention to detail.
Excellent Communications skills.
Familiarity with Agile frameworks and regression testing.
Familiarity with SQL databases.
Familiarity with test automation.
Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
