What You’ll Be Doing
You will be joining Strategic Project and Portfolio Delivery (SPPD) team within CIBC’s Technology Operations Services (TOS) group, which develops and delivers consistent integrated business management and technology delivery services across Technology Operations and CIBC. As a member of CIBC’s team, the Project Manager IT is a seasoned expert responsible for overseeing the day-to-day project activities of complex projects of a tactical nature, ensuring project control procedures and policies are adhered as per technology’s project performance standards. The role works with minimal direction, applying deep knowledge in their field of expertise to manage the delivery of project management best practices and processes including reporting, project planning, and support activities. The Project Manager IT uses significant latitude in determining objectives and leads employees in the development of analytical approaches, while establishing and maintaining client, senior management, and project manager relationships. In addition, the role provides status updates and progress reports to project stakeholders to manage expectations related to scope and timeline constraints.

How You'll Succeed
- Project Planning & Management – Lead infrastructure delivery projects, ensuring successful execution within scope, timeline, and budget. Create a resource plan that ensures all stakeholders have a voice on the project.
- Stakeholder Communication & Collaboration – Help internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services. Negotiate deliverables and milestones whenever necessary.
- Technical Oversight - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy secure IT infrastructure and systems. Coordinate the development, deployment, and maintenance of servers, networks, and other IT infrastructure.
- Risk and Issue Management - Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle. Establish contingency plans and escalate critical challenges, as necessary.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate 5+ years of experience in leading projects with a strong focus on project governance and infrastructure delivery, ideally within the banking sector or financial industry. Proven track record of managing large and complex security or infrastructure projects involving servers, networks, and cloud solutions. Experience with end-to-end project cycles, change management, infrastructure management including planning, execution, and post-implementation review. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components, including security tools, servers, networks, virtualization, and cloud computing (e.g., Azure). Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Microsoft Project, or other project management software. It’s an asset if you have your PMP designation.
- You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
