Purpose of the Role:

The Product Specialist, Public Assets is a critical connector role within Asset Management, designed to create leverage for Public Assets portfolio management teams by serving as the primary interface between portfolio managers, wealth advisors, and clients.  

Reporting to the Head of Public Assets, this role translates Public Assets Equity and Fixed Income investment strategy, portfolio positioning, and performance into clear, consistent, and clientready insights enabling advisors to engage confidently with clients while reducing adhoc demands on portfolio managers. The Product Specialist enhances scalability, improves quality of communication, and strengthens client understanding and conviction in Public Assets strategies.   

This is a hybrid role located in our Vancouver or Toronto office. 

Core Responsibilities:

Client & Marketing Support 

  • Partner collaboratively with investment teams to develop a strong understanding and communication of investment strategies, portfolio composition, performance, and market positioning.  
  • Facilitate collaboration between Asset Management, Private Wealth, and Marketing with a client service mindset.  
  • Develop key messages, product positioning, and investment narratives that differentiate the firm's capabilities across markets.  
  • Represent the firm at client meetings, conferences, and events by delivering product presentations and subject matter expertise.  
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of marketing and client materials, including presentations, product profiles, RFP responses, client reporting packages, and quarterly performance commentary.  
  • Support sales and client service efforts by responding to investment-related requests and providing behind-the-scenes support.  

Product Development 

  • Provide industry and product insights through analysis of market trends, client needs, and the competitive landscape to support product development and strategic planning.  
  • Contribute to the strategy, development, and enhancement of existing and new Public Assets products.  
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of capital markets, investment processes, portfolio positioning, and performance attribution.  
  • Assess product strengths and weaknesses and conduct competitive analysis to optimize market positioning.  

Reporting & Analysis 

  • Analyze product performance, including returns, volatility, risk-adjusted metrics, and benchmark comparisons.  
  • Develop performance measures and clearly articulate strategy positioning and performance in both written and verbal formats.  
  • Use performance data and client feedback to recommend and implement product improvements. 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant asset management and product management experience within public markets.  
  • Deep experience in Public Markets investing (including equity and fixed income) and fund structures (specifically Mutual Fund Trusts and LPs).  
  • Experience managing Fixed Income or Equity portfolios is preferred.  
  • Experience working closely with investment teams, wealth advisors, and/or UHNW clients  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, other relevant financial field, or an acceptable combination of education and progressive work experience.  
  • CFA designation is preferred.  
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office and financial industry systems and tools.  Experience with Bloomberg and Simcorp would be considered an asset.  
Compensation & Benefits Package:

This position comes with a competitive base salary hiring range of $140,000 - $170,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall fit. 

Base salary will be commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in our performance-based ShortTerm Incentive (STI) and LongTerm Incentive (LTI) programs. LTI is awarded in the form of equity, providing a direct ownership opportunity in the firm. This total compensation program aligns pay with performance through competitive incentives with meaningful longterm value creation.
