For millions of teams working in dozens of industries, day-to-day business gets done on the phone. So why — despite the huge leaps we've taken in design and usability — does most business phone software still look, feel, and act like it was born in the 90s? OpenPhone is changing that.

We’re a new type of business phone with a mission to help people communicate better and be more productive.

We’re backed by Y Combinator and some of the best venture firms around including Tiger Global, Craft Ventures, Slow Ventures, and others. We take pride in providing an exceptional customer experience and a product people love, which is why we’re excited that our customers have rated us the #1 VoIP Provider on G2.

OpenPhone is the modern, sophisticated answer to the clunky, outdated phone systems that have been slowing down businesses for years. With thousands of happy customers and several rounds of funding in just five years, it's safe to say we're onto something big.

About the Role

At OpenPhone, we’re looking for a Product Marketing Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the way we bring products and features to market. OpenPhone is a fast-moving start-up in a mature category, and our speed of innovation and customer focus truly sets us apart. You will play a key role in OpenPhone’s growth, leading GTM planning and execution for our releases across the product, ensuring that our customers hear about, and successfully adopt our newest features. With a strong track record in project management, and an in-depth understanding of our customers’ needs, you’ll help our customers quickly realize the value of our newest features.

Some of the things you’ll do

  • Work closely with Product Managers to identify key use cases, and develop compelling positioning for upcoming feature releases and updates.
  • Proactively communicate the above to key GTM stakeholders. Collaborate closely with them to develop impactful launch plans, strategically leveraging content, channels and other assets, that will deliver a clear, consistent message to key customer segments.
  • Drive the execution of these product launches and feature updates, coordinating with PMs and GTM teams to ensure clarity of timing and key launch details. Ensure that GTM teams are equipped with compelling material to ensure a successful launch. Continue to refine the process to ensure strong collaboration and execution amongst all teams.
  • Gather and leverage customer feedback from Support and Revenue teams to identify customer insights that enhance product messaging and positioning. Develop clear and actionable recommendations based on key performance indicators to improve future positioning and launch plans. Contribute strategic insights based on market trends, customer needs, and product knowledge to inform company-wide initiatives.
  • Support major product launches by leading tactical elements, such as asset creation and channel coordination. Continually drive process improvements to streamline launch operations and enhance cross-team efficiency.

About you

  • Proven Go to Market Expertise: You have deep experience leading go-to-market for either PLG SaaS or B2C software companies, and enabling cross-functional teams to deliver a meaningful, consistent message to the world.
  • Skilled Driver: You have a proven approach to driving successful execution of large-scale projects with multiple teams in support of business goals. You get a high level of satisfaction from ensuring that folks across the organization are in the loop, and marching to the same beat.
  • Customer-obsessed: You delight in utilizing customer insights to craft compelling benefits-based messaging and campaigns around feature releases and updates that resonates with diverse customer segments.
  • Collaborative: You take pride in seeking out diverse opinions, and using them to strengthen communication and outcomes. You embrace difficult conversations, knowing that a clear shared vision and organizational alignment are instrumental to effective execution.
  • Data-driven: You are constantly seeking to derive customer insights, both qualitative and quantitative, and validate them within the market. You understand that this type of learning is instrumental to refining and strengthening your plans.
  • Proactive ownership: You embrace the relative free-flowing nature of start-up life, and proactively navigate through change and ambiguity by consistently identifying ways to deliver value.

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position in the US is $110,000 - $123,000 USD, and in Canada is $126,000 - $140,000 CAD, plus equity and benefits. This range is designed to align with market rates in areas where we are actively recruiting across the US and Canada.

The range displayed reflects the target for new hire salaries, and within this range, individual pay is determined by your skills and experience, as well as relevant education. Your recruiter can share more and answer questions about the specific salary range during the hiring process.

Salary is just one component of OpenPhone’s total compensation package. Your total rewards package will include equity, extensive medical coverage, a monthly lifestyle stipend, and a flexible PTO policy.

Who we are

As a fully remote company, we thrive asynchronously as a team. We are curious, ambitious, and dedicated to our work. We value trust above all else, and have a strong bias for action. If you're looking for a place to do your life's work, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.

And remember, there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. We're looking for optimists with grit and determination, who are excited to face the challenges of a growing startup. OpenPhone is the type of company where you can grow, and we encourage you to apply for this role even if you don't think you meet all the requirements.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse work environment. It is important that you are able to bring your authentic self to work every day.
