Job Description
This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver area, as you will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.
As a Product Manager in the Video Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for expanding and maintaining an enterprise portfolio that includes appliances, video servers, and storage solutions. This role involves driving the strategic unification of our server and appliance platforms, creating a scalable infrastructure that powers both our core Physical Security products and our expanding Public Safety initiatives.
You will be entering a space of ambiguity, tasked with finding common ground between diverse technical requirements and building a scalable foundation for Motorola Solutions’ future. Reporting to a senior product management lead, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, finance, supply chain, sales, and marketing to drive the growth strategy for Motorola Solutions’ appliances portfolio. This role is vital in delivering value across both hardware and software components to ensure a high-quality, end-to-end customer experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Analysis & Customer AdvocacyRequirement Definition: Ensure internal stakeholders clearly understand product requirements by elaborating on customer problems, use cases, and expected results.
Bias for Action: You don’t wait for a perfectly defined PRD. You are comfortable creating "Draft 1" to spark the conversation and drive alignment.
Organizational Navigating: Ability to influence teams outside of your direct reporting line. You can move projects forward even when you don't have formal authority over every collaborator.
Competitive Positioning: Maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and the product’s position within it.
Voice of the Customer: Acquire a thorough understanding of physical security market needs through market research and ongoing visits to customers across key verticals and geographies.
Strategic Vision: Establish and champion a clear product vision—covering the who, what, why, where, and when—ensuring all project decisions align with that vision.
Business Case Development: Develop and maintain revenue projections and project ROI for each initiative.
End-to-End Lifecycle: Manage products from initial concept through launch, maintenance, and eventual end-of-life.
Operational Management: Handle engineering and manufacturing change requests within product lifecycle management systems.
Marketing & Finance: Partner with marketing for technical presentations and with finance/supply chain for inventory forecasting and pricing decisions.
Pricing Strategy: Provide input for product pricing strategies and maintain the overall product price list.
Sales Enablement: Collaborate with Product Marketing to ensure sales tools and technical collateral are effective for channel positioning.
Technical Assistance: Support sales and technical support teams in addressing product questions and escalations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering or Computer Science preferred); an MBA is considered an asset.
Critical Thinking: Ability to anticipate market trends, evaluate tradeoffs, and develop well-thought-out strategies.
Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex roadmaps and proposals to both technical and non-technical management.
Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills to sustain interactions with external vendors and customers, as well as internal engineering and sales organizations.
Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 10% to 20% of the time).
2+ years of product management experience delivering complex solutions in high-tech environments.
Prior experience leading products that integrate embedded software with hardware, with a deep understanding of the unique lifecycle and constraints of firmware-driven appliances.
Familiarity with enterprise compute and storage technology, particularly regarding video or hybrid on-premises and cloud software solutions.
Prior experience in the physical security or public safety market.
Target Base Salary Range: $95,400 - $113,800 CAD
