The DeFi Borrow team empowers millions of customers to unlock liquidity from their crypto assets directly within the Coinbase Consumer app. By architecting the bridge between Coinbase's robust centralized platform and premier onchain lending protocols, you will deliver a simple, secure, and highly scalable DeFi borrowing experience—complete with sophisticated collateral management, real-time loan health monitoring, and effortless repayment, in service of making Coinbase the best place for people to get the most out of their crypto and access better financial services.. You will define the next generation of onchain credit products and give customers the power to access the funds they need without selling their investments.
What you’ll be doing
- Own product area end-to-end, from vision and strategy through execution, launch, and ongoing iteration for DeFi Borrow.
- Define and drive the multi-year roadmap for crypto-backed loans on Coinbase, from initial borrow flows to advanced loan management, refinements, and new product surfaces across web and mobile.
- Set clear OKRs across multiple workstreams (e.g., loan origination, positions/loan management, balances and performance, liquidation, and observability) and drive cross‑functional collaboration to achieve them.
- Partner closely with Engineering to ship resilient, scalable borrowing experiences—spanning core loan workflows, loan state tracking, liquidation monitoring, and observability—while balancing speed, safety, and reliability.
- Work with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Finance partners to ensure DeFi Borrow products meet regulatory, risk, and controls expectations while preserving an excellent customer experience.
- Maintain a rigorous operational bar through launch runbooks, on‑call preparedness, degraded‑UI strategies, and incident playbooks that keep DeFi Borrow reliable through market volatility and edge cases.
- Champion a “crypto‑forward” product approach—leveraging onchain data, protocols, and primitives to build differentiated borrowing experiences that could only exist in the cryptoeconomy.
What we look for in you
- 5+ years of Product Management experience, with a track record of shipping impactful consumer or prosumer financial products at scale.
- Experience building or scaling complex financial or lending products (e.g., margin, credit, secured loans, DeFi borrowing) where you balanced user experience, risk, and business performance.
- Comfort with technical systems and onchain concepts; you can partner effectively with engineers working on smart contracts, loan workflows, and integrations with internal services and external protocols.
- Proven ability to define and drive multi‑quarter strategy: set a clear narrative, translate it into roadmaps and experiments, and deliver measurable results against growth and portfolio‑health goals.
- Strong analytical and product judgment: you’re comfortable digging into funnels, cohort behavior, risk/return tradeoffs, and market structure while still sweating UX details.
- User‑obsessed mindset with the ability to simplify complex financial and onchain concepts into clear, trustworthy experiences for a broad consumer audience.
Nice to haves
- Experience working directly with DeFi lending protocols (e.g., Morpho, Aave, Compound) or onchain money markets, either as a builder or an advanced user
- Background in credit, risk, or capital markets, especially in secured lending or collateralized products.
- Experience expanding onchain ecosystems with developers, creators, or consumers (for example, launching new markets, collateral types, or integrations across ecosystems).
- “Crypto‑forward” experience, including familiarity with onchain activity (e.g., interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, engaging with dApps, and managing DeFi positions across wallets and networks).
Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
