Your Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Design Engineer for John Deere Specialty Products located in Langley, B.C., you will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the mechanical systems for the Tracked Forestry Machines. You will be part of a global product engineering team and working in a cross-functional team environment. In addition, you will:

  • Analyze warranty claims, drive root cause analysis and lead projects to improve product quality
  • Lead continuous improvement projects for forestry tracked machines related to mechanical systems
  • Support field issues to deliver solutions in a timely manner
  • Lead projects resulting in improved product performance at lower cost
  • Support product assembly line operations to safely deliver quality products on time


What Skills You Need

  • Skills in working with a cross-functional, global development team
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with computer skills in 3-D modelling and MS-Office products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fundamental understanding of heavy structures, materials and steel fabrication processes


What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience in product development of off-highway equipment
  • Computer skills in 3-D modelling (CREO), PLM systems (PDMLink) and ERP (SAP)
  • Experience with mechanical structure design FEA
  • Experience with GD&T
  • Experience with hydraulic systems
  • Experience with product development processes


Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field of study)
