Job Title: Product Designer 

Location: Candidate must be located in Canada or the USA. Our office is located in Toronto, ON, Canada, but the role is remote/hybrid/flexible.

Reports to: Manager, Product Design

About the role:

We are looking for a talented, driven Product Designer to join our growing Product Design team. In this role, you will help lead design efforts to create intuitive, engaging product experiences that delight our customers - and help make their lives easier and better. You will contribute and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team (with Engineering, Product, and Design representatives), to understand customer needs, help define design strategy, and bring beautiful, user-centric products to life.

What you’ll do:

  • Help lead design of delightful user experiences by leveraging solid design thinking process - leading wireframe, design strategy, and decision-making for a large product.
  • Advocate for UX best practices to enable data-driven, thoughtful design choices.
  • Craft design solutions that solve user needs and achieve business goals.
  • Facilitate discussions and brainstorming sessions on design alternatives based on user/business needs.
  • Continuously learn about our users and our business goals to spark experiments.
  • Collaborate with partners (Engineering, Product, and Design as well as project stakeholders) and share work early for feedback and insight.
  • Deliver high-quality, complete designs ready for development (statefulness, interaction notes, prototyping, etc.).
  • Improve and evolve design patterns and systems.

What you’ll bring:

  • You have 4-5+ years of experience designing responsive digital products, ideally including HIPAA environments.
  • Strong visual design skills and a desire to evolve accessible design systems
  • High level of proficiency in Figma and Figjam, prototyping skills are a plus.
  • Great design instincts and a passion for socializing your process and providing transparency to everything you do.

  • You seek feedback throughout the product development lifecycle and know how to collect, manage, and balance opinions from various internal and external sources. 

You will:

  • Own: You will own an area of the product and be the design representative for all that zone’s rituals and meetings.
  • Teach: You will teach others how best to work with you, and help others understand the benefit that design thinking can bring to all aspects of a product.
  • Learn: You are a lifelong learner who jumps at the opportunity to fine-tune your skills and are always on the lookout for new ones to acquire.
  • Improve: You will improve through direct feedback and team rituals, and you are the type of person who checks in proactively with teammates and peers.

Within:

  • 1 month you will: Quickly ramp up on company knowledge while identifying and taking ownership of small UX improvements.
  • 3 months you will: Steer larger product updates and enhancements, begin to incorporate user research into your work, and help optimize design processes.
  • 6 months you will: Fully onboarded and contributing to both design strategy and executing individual project work. Helping establish the long-term vision for product design and leading cross-product initiatives.
