About Us:

Forage, a mission-driven payments company, assists merchants in accepting government benefits via a unified API. Over 42 million Americans utilize government assistance, such as SNAP, for groceries.

Forage is building the financial infrastructure, starting with EBT SNAP online, to enable merchants of all sizes to serve these customers online.

We are actively hiring across North America and function as a hybrid organization. While we embrace remote work, we prioritize candidates who can work from our San Francisco and New York offices.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a talented product designer to work with a set of engineers and a product manager to design new consumer-facing products and features at Forage. As we’ve grown our B2B business, we’ve heard from EBT recipients that there are more opportunities for us to help them pay with EBT online and to save money along the way. You’ll have the opportunity to help low-income Americans get more value for their dollar with improved tools to navigate the rapidly evolving grocery shopping and financial technology ecosystem.

Qualifications:

  • 4 - 8 years of experience designing successful consumer software products or consumer-grade B2B products with several examples of these projects in a portfolio that you can share with us.
  • Experience building 0 to 1 products, preferably at earlier stage (approximately seed to Series B) startups.
  • Experience navigating and simplifying complex problems preferred, especially in consumer fintech and/or ecommerce.
  • Proficiency using leading design tools (e.g., Figma) and methodologies to create consistent, implementable designs and rapidly iterating upon them in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to hone a product concept from high-level requirements to engineering-ready specs. You’re comfortable leading user research with initial prototypes and dialing in the level of detail as you build conviction in your approach solving users’ problems.
  • High velocity. You bias towards getting fresh designs in front of users to keep up a high rate of learning, and you reliably hit your targets for deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate timelines, to acknowledge and act on peer feedback, and to exert a positive influence on both strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of new consumer products, leveraging our preexisting user research and prototypes to build delightful, easy to use consumer iOS and Android apps and to build new features to deepen the value of our web apps to consumers and B2B customers.
  • Rapidly iterate on designs by collaborating with and distilling insights from end-users as well as your colleagues in engineering, product, and beyond.
  • Contribute to Forage’s design process and components building towards a design system for the future of our consumer products, upleveling the company’s approach to design and capacity to produce compelling, visually consistent, and pixel-perfect designs.
  • As the first designer on the team, help to shape the role of design at Forage, including how design influences product strategy and collaborates with product and engineering.

Our Offer:

  • Your base salary would fall within the bands below. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of your offer is not included in these numbers and represents a significant part of your total compensation.
    • Compensation:$150k-195k USD base + equity + benefits
    • Meaningful work that makes a positive impact on our society.
    • 100% of Medical, Dental and Vision premium coverage for yourself and dependents.
    • A remote-first work environment with opportunity for onsite meetings.
    • A fun and caring environment that prioritizes transparency, growth, and ownership.
    • A talented, diverse, high-achieving, and humble team with diverse backgrounds and viewpoints.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at our headquarters in San Francisco, California.
