Ciena’s Supply Chain Procurement organization is looking for a dynamic Product Cost Leader to work within Product Cost Management team.

The successful candidate will work under direction of the Manager, Product Risk and Cost Management. Duties will include:

  • Post Product General Availability Design Cost Reductions (DCR) prospection for post General Availability (GA)
  • Project prioritization and alignment to the business priorities and opportunity with the key stakeholders.
  • Project tracking and documentation focused on the assigned product portfolio or commodity.
  • Development, documentation and maintenance of product cost roadmaps.
  • Develop strategies and drive Cost Reduction data acquisition and analysis automation projects.

The role requires a focus around definition of long-term product cost trajectories driving projects to meet cost targets (Cost Avoidance or CA and Design Cost Reduction or DCR) ensuring financial benefits are captured timely in order to achieve the Cost Reduction budget.

The Product Cost Leader works with Product Line Managers, R&D and Engineering teams, Global Commodity Management (GCM), Operations and Finance teams for guidance/input/prioritization to deliver Cost Reductions opportunities and meet corporate objectives and priorities.

Cost Reductions and Cost Avoidance projects will be managed by the Product Cost Leader from idea to implementation through business case development, project prioritization, monthly reviews, status report & financial tracking.

The Product Cost Leader is also responsible for Discrete Cost Road Maps (DCRM) providing a multi-year cost forecast supporting quarterly standards review with the Product Line Management team and the bid factor analysis with the finance team in support of the Regional sales teams when bidding for new business.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Industrial Engineering, Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Design, Manufacturing/Test/Product Engineering, Product Line Management.
  • Understanding of product cost contributors and factors affecting them.
  • Well versed in statistics and data analysis
  • Previous exposure to design or manufacture of electro-optical and/or mechanical based telecom products.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, comfortable identifying trends and anomalies in large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL queries, Python
  • Prior experience with Agile or similar Product Documentation Management tools
  • Strong teamwork skills. Problem solver.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines and changing schedules.
  • Availability to travel 5-10% of time.

Pay Range:
The salary range for this role is $66, 200 - $105, 800 CDN

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
