An opportunity to play your part - Centrica is seeking a dynamic Procurement Category Manager for Infrastructure & Hosting. If you have commercial creativity, business acumen, and a knack for innovation, this role is for you. You'll provide expert advice to internal stakeholders and have a proven record in Category Management. Your responsibilities include aligning third-party spend with stakeholder objectives, creating strategic focus across all business units, and being an external market expert. You'll ensure the delivery of contract value throughout its lifecycle, always seeking further value-add opportunities. Your proactive relationship management will maximize value for our business units. Additionally, you'll maintain category Buying Channels and ensure supplier risk and compliance. Location: UK, Windsor (talk to us about flexible working)
The day to day:

  • Accountable for facilitating and gathering business needs from all stakeholders at Centrica
  • Review and challenge Centrica's business needs against industry category best practice
  • Inform Centrica's future business strategy by funnelling external market insights and added value offerings into the business and functions
  • Manage the overall strategy for the category, supported by the Procurement Director at Centrica
  • Accountable for the supplier risk profile within the category at Centrica
  • Define and own the preferred supplier list (PSL) within the category for Centrica
  • Define, roll out and measure success of the buying channels strategy at Centrica
  • Coaching Centrica stakeholders on end-to-end category management best practice
  • Being the external market expert and help Centrica's businesses/functions to deliver against their strategic priorities
  • Developing functional capability, managing the systems & control framework within Procurement, supporting ESG, CSRD & Safety at Centrica
  • Deliver function & Business Unit savings targets in line with budgets and support Centrica’s Buy Better Programme

About You:

  • Significant experience in performing end-to-end Category Management activities for large and complex companies
  • Proven ability to think laterally, globally, and creatively to drive additional value for the business
  • Strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization, with evidence of building trust across large organizations
  • Progressive experience in leading Category Management initiatives, including supplier management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven record of significant cost reductions in goods and services
  • Strong internal customer influence and change management skills essential
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities such as enthusiasm, decisiveness, strategic thinking, and being a change agent
  • Track record of delivering long-term value within a Procurement environment
