As a member of the Shift Engineering team, the Temporary Shift Power Engineer - Full- time Relief is responsible for the operation, routine/ preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of refrigeration and steam plant.

Schedule: Full - Time relief position. Guaranteed 36 work week. 12 month contract from date of hire.

Salary: $51.24 per hour

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Operate automated control systems, stationary engines, and auxiliary equipment such as boilers, pumps, compressors, and other equipment to provide heat, ventilation, refrigeration and wastewater treatment for buildings and industrial manufacturing process

  • Monitor and visually inspect plant equipment, valves, gauges, alarms, meters, and other instruments to measure temperature, pressure, flow and other that are part of the system that provide, heat, ventilation, refrigeration and wastewater treatment for the building and the industrial manufacturing process

  • Inspect leaks or other equipment malfunctions and make sure plant equipment is operating at maximum efficiency

  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions

  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective action and minor repairs to prevent equipment or system failure

  • Clean and lubricate pumps and compressors and perform other routine equipment maintenance duties using appropriate lubricants and hand, power, and precision tools

  • Maintain a daily log of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, and write reports about plant operation

  • May assist in the development of operation, maintenance, and safety procedures

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • 3rd Class Certificate of Competency (B.C./Interprovincial)

  • Industrial ammonia experience

  • Able to work in confined space and perform some heavy lifting
