GeoComply is seeking an analytical Policy Research and Product Compliance Intern, OneComply who will play a critical role in our strategic growth within the North American gaming market.

This role focuses on finding the "source of truth" for regulatory and compliance changes. You will leverage technology, including AI tools, to establish an early alerts system and create efficient processes that allow us to be proactive and make proper adjustments to compliance.

Your findings will directly inform our strategy and empower our customers to navigate their licensing obligations with confidence. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and regulatory compliance in one of the world's most dynamic industries.

This role reports to the Senior Product Manager, OneComply and is located in Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct In-Depth Regulatory Research: Perform research on the nuances of state, provincial, and tribal gaming commissions and regulatory bodies across the United States and Canada.
  • Leverage AI for Efficiency: Explore and implement the use of AI tools to streamline the collection, analysis, and synthesis of complex regulatory frameworks, licensing application processes, and policy documents.
  • Create a Proactive Alert System: Design and help set up an early alerts system that flags upcoming regulatory and compliance changes, allowing the company and its customers to make proactive adjustments.
  • Analyze and Synthesize Information: Analyze regulatory frameworks, licensing application processes, and policy documents to identify key requirements, pain points, and opportunities for OneComply.
  • Generate Actionable Insights: Distill complex regulatory language and processes into clear, actionable reports, presentations, and internal documentation (using tools like Confluence and Jira) for the Product team.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with the OneComply Product team, as well as Licensing & Government Relations teams to identify opportunities for enhanced and innovative product features, service enhancements, and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor the Landscape: Keep a pulse on the evolving regulatory environment to help to identify opportunities to work with future-forward agencies who will collaborate with OneComply to ensure our product strategy remains ahead of the curve.
  • Support Product Strategy: Assist the Product team in using your research to prioritize features, define product requirements, and build business cases for new initiatives that simplify the licensing journey for our gaming customers.
  • Embrace Stretch Opportunities (The Fun Part!): As a GeoComply intern, expect to be pushed. You’ll be given special, high-value projects outside the immediate scope of your role, a chance to explore new roles, test your limits, and adapt to new challenges across the business.

About You

  • Educated: Pursuing or recently graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business, Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or a related field. Pursuing a technical degree with a minor in an arts program would be an asset!
  • Curious: More important than your specific degree is your interest in the field. You are driven by a strong sense of curiosity and a passion for learning about technology, compliance, and the iGaming industry.
  • Enthusiasm for the complexities of legal/regulatory frameworks.
  • Organized & Analytical: Possessing excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills. You have an eye for detail and the ability to interpret data into simple, intuitive information.
  • Communicative & Actionable: An effective verbal and written communicator, with the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner. Focus on translating complex requirements into actionable product recommendations.
  • Personable: Your great attitude makes you approachable and engaging, and you demonstrate excellent relationship management skills.

Bonus Points

  • Previous internship experience in a research, legal/paralegal, or data analysis role.
  • A demonstrated interest in the online gaming, sports betting, or technology sectors.
  • Familiarity with public policy analysis or experience reading and interpreting legal or regulatory documents.
  • Experience with process automation or an interest in applying AI/ML to business problems.

What You'll Gain

  • Concrete Skills & Experience: You will gain experience in in-depth research, public policy analysis, reading and interpreting legal or regulatory documents, and using product development tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • High-Impact Project Ownership: You will lead a project that directly enables the company to build innovative, sellable compliance features that no one else in the market provides.
  • Mentorship & Exposure: You will work closely with the Senior Product Manager, along with other regulatory experts and senior product leaders and collaborate with Licensing and Government Relations teams, gaining exposure across the organization.
