The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing in full compliance with company policies, labor laws, and regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and a focus on continuous improvement within the payroll function.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and within established timelines, ensuring compliance with company policies, labor laws, and regulations.
- Review and verify timecards, address discrepancies, and ensure all payroll-related data is correct.
- Audit payroll registers to ensure accuracy and completeness before payroll funding. Conduct random audits to validate the accuracy and consistency of payroll data.
- Provide education and training to employees on the Time & Attendance (T&A) system.
- Support business-wide and payroll-specific initiatives focused on simplifying and standardizing processes. Lead efforts to track and resolve any defects or issues identified in the payroll process. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
- Review forms, templates, and communications for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Assist in implementing new policies and processes to the assigned employee population.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data.
- Document and maintain standard operating procedures for specific countries.
- Independently manage projects and processes with minimal supervision, ensuring alignment with business needs.
Qualifications:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in Australia payroll end to end process and must be knowledgeable in Australian Enterprise Bargaining Agreements and Awards.
- In-depth understanding of payroll processing, labor laws, and tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
