Outsourcing Character Artist | North America | Canada | Europe | Fully Remote
What we are looking for:
We are seeking an Outsource Character Artist to collaborate closely with both internal and external teams on Character Assets for Cosmetics. In this role, you will work with the producer on scheduling, coordinate with the internal development team to meet project needs and manage the delivery of assets from external vendors. The candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and must be extremely nimble, with strong organizational skills and flexibility to adapt to varying time schedules, evolving project needs, and non-traditional hours across different time zones. While the role includes managerial responsibilities, it is also hands-on, involving the intake and assessment of assets to ensure they meet the required standards. Additionally, you will provide valuable feedback on art assets from outsource to maintain quality and consistency throughout the project.
What we will do together:
- Direct and implement high-quality Character Cosmetics for characters and items.
- Communicate and partner between Concept Art, Character Team, Rigging, Animation departments to develop workflows and character assets that follows quality and stylistic standards.
- Create beautiful character art from concept art and reference materials.
- Adapt to the concept and style of the project.
- Communicate, Support and feedback work from External Vendors
- Fully in engine, implementing content and making sure everything runs smoothly on all platforms.
- Train and unblock outsourcing partners, provide best practices/samples, and support production schedules.
- Generate answers quickly to resolve ambiguity, and champion for best sustainable practices.
What you will bring:
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Unreal, Substance Painter, Maya, Zbrush are required.
- Experience with Autodesk Flow Production for Tracking and Confluence strong bonus.
- Attention to detail and clear organizational skills. A mind for problem-solving large-scale asset management, pipeline inefficiencies and comprehensive processes on a technical level.
- Solid grasp of game feel, design affordances and visual shape/color language.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, natural curiosity for the bigger picture, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Continuous drive for artistic growth by being up to date with the latest trends and techniques in real-time visual effects and game development pipelines.
- Value for an inclusive and empathetic work culture.
- Live service project experience preferred, but shipping experience required.
