We are currently seeking a Full Time Operations Financial Analyst to join our team, based out of our Richmond, BC head office. This role will include financial reporting and measurement, analysis of key metrics, and their impacts on the profits and losses. 

Position: Permanent, Full-Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. In office.

Salary: $55,000-70,000 per year, plus performance bonus

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis:

• Provides financial information and models business assumptions to assist in strategic and operational decision making

• Investigates discrepancies between results and plans

• Works with plant SLT to ensure financial plans and budgets meet head office requirements

• Assists in the yearly budgeting process, and assists in financial modelling for profitability

• Works with senior and extended leadership to implement plant strategy

• Works with staff to develop financial skills, understanding of the business and improve reporting and financial systems

• Works with the Shared Services team in a supporting role in the month end close process

• Provides financial knowledge support to the business unit’s management team

Inventory:

• Communicates inventory issues to buyers

• Coordinates the taking of cycle count, and physical inventory 

• Reconciles inventories prior to closing the books to ensure that inventory values are accurate

• Monitors internal control and risk assurance activities and ensures compliance with general accounting principles and company procedures

• Takes the lead in identifying slow moving and obsolete inventory and reserves. Communicate these findings with the finance manager and purchasing manager

• Identifies trends and makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities

Costing/Pricing:

• Works closely with the manufacturing/value added department team, to obtain inputs for cost models and to review and analyze standard costs and bills of materials for completeness and accuracy

• Analyzes monthly actual costs to ensure standards are in line

• Performs time studies on a regular basis on manufactured product

• Be aware of and understand how changes in raw materials costs could affect costs and gross margins

• Analyzes costs associated with new products and reviews if products fit into the business strategy

• Determines customer pricing based on margin guidelines and suggest retail prices based on sales targets

• Reviews margin and profitability based on set targets

• Maintains and recommend product rationalization of current skus and set-up regular reviews

• Performs other duties as assigned

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Degree/Diploma in Accounting or Finance

• Heightened analytical skills and problem solving abilities

• Advanced Excel & Google Sheets skills (i.e. pivot tables, Vlookups)

• Detailed oriented and self-starter

• Superior verbal and written communication skills combined with the ability to effectively debrief senior management

• Analyzes information, draws conclusions, and develops reporting for management use

• Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task and prioritize tasks

• Proven ability to successfully establish and maintain supporting relationships with other departments

• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on, and continuously evolving environment
