Sedgman is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Designer, with hands-on experience on projects ranging from conceptual design to detailed engineering. This person will be based out of our Vancouver office.
The Mechanical Designer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing industry. You'll be involved in the entire design process, from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Mechanical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
Complete detailed design from sketches or specification direction of engineers or a supervising design drafter
Review and incorporation of vendor information into the 3D model
Support the team in layout development and optimizing the 3D layout to improve construction, maintenance and operation of mechanical equipment.
Checking of design interfaces between different items, working with the lead designer and with designers from other disciplines to resolve issues
Create 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.
Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties or project requirements as appropriate.
Comply with the Change Management process for engineering design
Prepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures.
Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.
Ensure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures
Provide drafting support to the project teams in line with management direction from them whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.
Focus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction
Check drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and adherence to design specifications & intent.
Apply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards, and client requirements, to complete tasks efficiently.
About You
Associate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 5 year’s industry experience in a design / consultancy environment, preferably supporting mining, minerals processing, or heavy industries.
Experience with projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.
Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D modelling programs, such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, Inventor, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Vault and Plant3D
Ability to work autonomously.

Salary: $87,000-112,000
The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
