What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.

  • Designation as a Qualified Professional in Alberta and/or BC (or immediate eligibility).

  • 4+ years of environmental consulting experience, including environmental assessments and permitting in BC/Alberta/Northern Canada.

  • Expertise in federal, provincial, and territorial regulations, survey methodologies, and mitigation planning.

  • Strong plant identification skills (upland and wetland), rare/invasive species survey experience, and ecosystem mapping knowledge.

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • M.Sc. in Environmental Science or related discipline.

  • 5+ years of consulting experience, ideally in mining, energy, or government sectors.

  • Experience with terrestrial ecosystem mapping projects in BC under provincial standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee terrestrial ecology and soil science field programs across BC, Alberta, and Northern Canada.

  • Prepare environmental effect assessments and management plans aligned with federal and provincial requirements.

  • Develop environmental permitting applications for mining, energy, and infrastructure projects.

  • Conduct project delivery activities: field surveys, data collection, literature reviews, technical reporting, and client recommendations.

  • Lead proposal development, including scopes and cost estimates, and support business development initiatives.

  • Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring quality deliverables.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, and ERM colleagues worldwide.

For the Managing Technical Consultant, Terrestrial Ecology position, the anticipated annual base pay is $93,309 – $103,831 (CAD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
