Manager AI Engineering

Rapid7 is looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact team within our AI Center of Excellence in Pune. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex AI experimentation and production-grade cybersecurity solutions, driving the technical strategy and operational maturity of our AI systems.

About the Role
As an Engineering Manager - AI Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to lead a team of 10+ engineers in the delivery and scaling of production AI systems. Specifically, your focus will be to:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of AI applications and platform capabilities, moving from initial experimentation to robust production deployment.
• Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team, fostering technical excellence and professional development for senior and staff-level engineers.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into structured technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment between product goals and engineering execution.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, Security Research, and Platform teams to identify and prioritise high-impact AI use cases.

• Executing with Excellence: A proven track record of shipping complex ML systems to production in cloud-native (AWS) environments.

• Systems Thinking: Deep understanding of modern AI patterns, including LLMs, RAG, and agentic orchestration.
• Technical Credibility: 10+ years of experience in applied AI/ML engineering with the ability to guide architecture without creating bottlenecks.
• Operational Discipline: Expertise in the ML lifecycle, including evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and cost optimisation.
• Adaptability: Comfort operating in dynamic, high-growth environments where requirements and priorities shift iteratively.
• Domain Expertise: Familiarity with cybersecurity or similar high-signal, analytical data domains.
• Strategic Vision: Capacity to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term technical debt and scalability.
• Effective Communication: Ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
