About the Role

We’re looking for a Manager, Accounting Operations to lead Orion Digital’s (previously Mogo) Shared Services and General Accounting functions - including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and key general ledger activities.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of day-to-day accounting operations. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, you’ll manage a team responsible for general accounting and shared services activities. The role includes, strengthening internal controls, and identifying opportunities to streamline and automate workflows. The candidate should have a keen interest in assessing AI capabilities throughout their responsibilities.

You’ll also play a key role in supporting the month-end close, audit readiness, and the ongoing modernization of Orion Digital’s finance operations.

If you’re a technically strong, process-driven accounting leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys developing people and systems, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop the Shared Services and General Accounting team (AP, AR, and accounting operations), providing coaching, feedback, and direction to ensure high-quality work and team development.
  • Review and support daily accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, and transactional postings - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
  • Own the month-end close process for Shared Services and general accounting areas; complete and review reconciliations, variance analyses, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with the broader Accounting team during reporting and audit cycles to ensure deliverables are complete, accurate, and properly supported.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls within AP/AR and general accounting; ensure documentation and process adherence.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including automation of reconciliations, workflow standardization, and efficiency gains across Shared Services.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, and Operations to ensure correct accounting treatment and timely issue resolution.
  • Support external audits, preparing PBC schedules and responding to auditor requests.
  • Contribute to system improvements (e.g., NetSuite enhancements, automation tools) to drive scalability and accuracy.

What You’ll Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA in progress or an asset, but not required).
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to team leadership or supervision.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end close processes.
  • Hands-on experience in Shared Services operations (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations).
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and develop team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated process improvement mindset - comfortable identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across levels and functions.
  • Interest in applying technology and AI tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting processes.
