Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

Objective: Provide technical documentation, data analysis, and coordination support to the Manufacturing Engineering team. Maintain accurate and current process documentation, prepare engineering reports and visual data, support engineering change activities, and coordinate action tracking so Manufacturing Engineers can focus on equipment reliability, process optimization, launches, automation, and root-cause problem solving.

Scope: The Manufacturing Engineering Coordinator at Magna Engineered Glass is the technical support role responsible for organizing, developing, and maintaining manufacturing engineering records and production documentation. The position works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Training, and other cross-functional teams to ensure documents reflect the current approved process. The role supports, but does not independently approve, engineering or quality-system changes.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and revise manufacturing Job Instructions, Standardized Work, Job Element Sheets, setup instructions, changeover instructions, troubleshooting guides, visual aids, and training materials.
  • Coordinate updates to Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), Control Plans, and related manufacturing documentation based on approved process, product, equipment, and engineering changes.
  • Facilitate document review with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and other process owners; route documents for approval and follow actions through completion.
  • Maintain document revision history, approval status, effective dates, controlled copies, and archived records in accordance with company document-control requirements.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data from approved systems, including Excel, Power BI, Fiix, production systems, and quality records.
  • Prepare recurring charts, graphs, dashboards, presentations, equipment scorecards, downtime summaries, scrap trends, quality trends, labor-efficiency reports, project status reports, and other engineering metrics.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers with APQP, PPAP, engineering change, launch-readiness, audit, corrective-action, and continuous-improvement documentation.
  • Create and maintain engineering action lists, project trackers, milestone plans, open-issue logs, meeting notes, and follow-up records.
  • Assist with process observations, data collection, time studies, line walks, audits, trials, run-at-rate activities, and validation documentation under the direction of a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Convert technical input, marked-up documents, photographs, sketches, and process notes into clear, concise, operator-friendly instructions and visual standards.
  • Coordinate document updates following equipment modifications, process changes, quality concerns, corrective actions, or lessons learned; verify that affected documents are aligned.
  • Check documentation for completeness, consistency, grammar, formatting, traceability, and usability before submitting it for technical approval.
  • Support preparation of training packages and assist process owners with communicating approved document revisions to affected employees.
  • Help standardize engineering templates, naming conventions, report formats, and documentation practices across manufacturing areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of product, process, customer, supplier, and company information.
  • Promote a safe and collaborative work environment and comply with applicable safety, quality, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support departmental and organizational objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Quality Technology, Technical Communications, or a related field; a bachelor’s degree or active progress toward one is preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in manufacturing, engineering support, quality, technical documentation, document control, or a related technical role is preferred. Relevant co-op, internship, or internal manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes and translate technical information into clear and usable instructions, reports, and visual aids.
  • Working knowledge of PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, APQP, PPAP, standardized work, and engineering change processes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Experience with Power BI, Visio, SharePoint, document-control systems, CMMS tools, or basic CAD is preferred.
  • Ability to create accurate charts, graphs, tables, presentations, and recurring reports from manufacturing and quality data.
  • Strong technical-writing, proofreading, organization, file-management, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain revision accuracy, follow established approval processes, and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with employees at multiple levels and across departments.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned documentation and reporting tasks while recognizing when technical review or approval is required.
  • Continuous-improvement mindset with an interest in developing toward increased manufacturing engineering responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
  • English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office Environment: est. 70%
  • Plant Environment: est. 30%
  • The employee must be able to tolerate sitting and standing for extended periods of time. 
  • It requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision in order to be able to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 6 hours per workday.
  • While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
  • This role operates primarily in a manufacturing facility and environment. Occasional travel may be required.
