Your Role

Clarius Mobile Health is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to contribute to a special project focused on expanding access to ultrasound technology while continuing to advance our next-generation innovations.

Over the next 12 months, the Machine Learning Engineer will focus on the development, training, and deployment of machine learning models in both research and production settings. This role requires experience in model building, deployment, and software engineering best practices to ensure scalable and efficient ML systems. This candidate will excel in finding creative solutions to continually improve the performance and safety of ML in production. It is ideal for someone with industry experience who is eager to build robust, high-performing models and contribute to cutting-edge advancements in machine learning applications.

If we meet our project milestones, there’s a strong possibility of this role being extended or turning into a permanent position.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models for both research and production.
  • Optimize model performance and scalability for deployment.
  • Design and maintain ML pipelines for efficient data processing and training.
  • Automate model retraining, evaluation, and monitoring in production.
  • Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to transfer ML research into practical applications.
  • Address and minimize ML technical debt, ensuring maintainable and efficient code.


Your Experience so Far: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in industry is required
  • Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and model deployment. 
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. 
  • Experience in software engineering best practices, including version control and testing. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex ML engineering challenges. 
  • Experience optimizing model performance and inference speed, preferred.
  • Experience with Linux and working in remote environments, preferred. . 
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP). would be a strong bonus. 


Location and Compensation:

Due to the hands-on nature of this collaborative role, a hybrid arrangement is preferred. As a result, we can only consider candidates who are within a commutable distance of our Vancouver, BC office.

This is a one-year fixed-term contract with a strong likelihood of extension upon meeting project deliverables. The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $130,000.
