Job Description

The Senior Localization Software Operations Specialist will oversee all aspects of the software localization program, including but not limited to internally & externally hosted tools; process integrations and workflows with vendors & developers; establishing quality assurance metrics to monitor and report on bug prevention & cost saving trends; prioritization & resourcing; and the overall operations of our software localization department. You will partner closely with UX, QA, IT, product managers and software development teams to identify opportunities for new process integrations, optimize existing tools, and ensure all software developers are following internationalization best practices and overall process requirements.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage the end-to-end software localization project pipeline, prioritizing projects and activities based on business needs and resource & budget availability, as directed by the Localization Manager.
  • Maintain localization metrics that enable regular and consistent reporting to show clear trends on localization quality, costs and process efficiencies.
  • Recruit, onboard, train and provide continuous support and mentorship to localization developers and project managers, ensuring internal process documentation and clearly communicated and up to date. 
  • Partner closely with software developers, quality assurance engineers, project managers, IT, and language specialists to drive continuous improvement in quality, process efficiencies and cost reductions.
  • Develop, maintain, and socialize localization process documentation, ensuring that all software development teams are adhering to internationalization best practices and software localization processes across the organization
  • Maintain, add and enhance features in the Localization Tools portal 
  • Manage Micro Frontend localization projects end to end to maintain visibility into current processes and challenges.
  • Report on Localization QA metrics to demonstrate how addressing processes upstream, both internally with dev teams and externally with linguists and localization vendors, directly impact both linguistic and functional bugs 
  • Actively participate in GenAI efforts related to early LQA evaluation using MSI LLMs
  • Proactively identify new opportunities to creatively troubleshoot challenges by actively participating in localization events, forums, and peer to peer engagements to both address internal challenges and contribute to the overall maturation and progression of the Localization industry 

Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of cultural sensitivities and differences, and the ability to suggest changes so software can be adapted to various cultural contexts effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex linguistic concepts to a variety of audiences, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with specific localization software, knowledge in a particular area of linguistics such as syntax, or semantics, as well as experience working in a multilingual environment
  • University Degree
  • Automation testing and/or tasks automation.
  • Nice to have: native fluency in a second language
  • Desired Technical skills: 
  • Python, Javascript, Kubernetes, React and MSSQL. 
  • Git enterprise source control or similar version control system
  • Knowledge of development lifecycle
  • Basic knowledge of software pipelines

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is 75,000 - 89,000 CAD depending on experience.
