THE OPPORTUNITY

Aritzia is growing and our Legal team is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team responsible for providing legal advice and advising on legal compliance and risk mitigation across all areas of Aritzia’s business. As Legal Counsel, Commercial you will partner with internal business partners to support Aritzia’s business activities and transactions with third parties. THE ROLE

As the Legal Counsel/ Sr. Legal Counsel, Commercial you will:

• Support Aritzia’s business activities and transactions with third parties (e.g., drafting, reviewing, and advising business partners on third-party agreements and ensuring compliance with consumer protection laws)
• Champion compliance with privacy laws across business operations.
• Support with developing an integrated offensive and defensive legal strategy to drive and protect the business.
• Support Aritzia’s corporate activities by providing legal services and compliance guidance.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

The Legal Counsel/Sr. Legal Counsel, Commercial, has:

• Proven skills, certifications, education and/or experience in Commercial law.
  • Law degree from a recognized university.
  • Recent experience and comprehensive knowledge of Canadian commercial and privacy laws, including experience as a practicing lawyer (prior in-house experience preferred).
  • Experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts, including Data Processing Agreements (experience in retail ecommerce would be an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal, research, and communication skills. Ability to evaluate risk and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current member in good standing of the law society of British Columbia (or other Canadian jurisdiction)

• The ability to collaborate fluently with cross-functional partners.
• A commitment to quality and investing in results that add value to the business.

THE COMPENSATION

The typical hiring range for this position is $125,000 - $250,000 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Additionally, this position may be eligible for bonus.
