Lead Solutions Architect - legacy codebases, especially C# and/or Delphi - Cloud - Toronto - Hybrid
Location: Toronto (Hybrid) | Practice Area: Wealth & Asset Management | Type: Permanent or Contract
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect with strong experience in both reverse engineering existing systems and forward engineering new solutions. This role requires someone who can deeply analyze complex, often undocumented systems, extract architectural intent, and design modern, scalable solutions—independent of technology stack.
Experience working with legacy technologies (such as C# and Delphi codebases) is highly desirable, as the role may involve modernizing or re-architecting existing platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Reverse engineer existing applications and platforms to understand architecture, data flows, integrations, and business logic
- Translate legacy system behavior into clear architectural documentation and design artifacts
- Design and architect new solutions from the ground up, independent of specific technology stacks
- Define target-state architectures and migration strategies from legacy to modern systems
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Evaluate trade-offs across performance, scalability, maintainability, security, and cost
- Provide architectural guidance during implementation and ensure adherence to design principles
- Identify opportunities for simplification, modernization, and technical debt reduction
- Support proof-of-concepts and architectural decision-making
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Systems Architect, or similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with reverse engineering complex systems, including legacy or poorly documented solutions
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver forward-looking architectures from scratch
- Deep understanding of software architecture principles, patterns, and best practices
- Technology-agnostic mindset with the ability to quickly learn and assess new stacks
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience producing architectural diagrams, design documents, and technical roadmaps
- Excellent communication skills.
