Boeing Vancouver is seeking Lead Data Engineer, reporting to the Software Application Developer - Product Manager, working out of the Richmond BC office.

The Lead Data Engineer will be responsible for delivery of cutting-edge flight and maintenance data analytics products. As part of an integrated product team the Lead Data Engineer will be part of technical team taking responsibilities on Data Analysis, Data Maintenance and Data product development.

This role will work with portfolio leadership, development teams and stakeholders to establish and drive the implementation, technical strategies and roadmaps for the success of each product and initiative. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members, PO, Product Managers, Data Scientists in an Agile environment.

  • Research complex or multiple processes, applications, systems and data to identify functional requirements for application or system design.

  • Consult with customers to clarify and refine complex requirements.

  • Interprets and translates complex requirements into functional specifications.

  • Leads and performs activities to develop and execute tests to validate system functionality against specifications.

  • Help design and build scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems and environments.

  • Participate in work and code reviews with the team.

  • Take part in implementation and support of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).

  • Effectively contributes to building the overall knowledge and expertise of the technical team.

  • Think big on the future of our products and work closely with senior developers and tech lead in improving current systems on HA, Scalability, Fault Tolerance, HA, performance and Operation Excellence.

  • Apply your knowledge of cloud services and solutions provided by GCP, Azure or AWS

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software development and/or data analysis.

  • 5+ years of experience with languages like SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis. 

  • Expertise in Data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory).

  • Expertise in Database design principles, normalization/denormalization.

  • 3+ Working experience with Cloud development.

  • 3+ years of experience with production-level Software Development.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individuals must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Rich domain knowledge on aviation industry; experience on large scale flight data; Maintenance Engineering Data

  • Databricks platform experience with Spark ecosystem

  • Experience in Data governance frameworks implementation

  • Experience in Data quality tools and methodologies

  • Streaming data technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Event Hubs)

  • Experience with cloud-deployed APIs and micro-services

  • A bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience working in a global technology organization and managing many stakeholders

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Salary pay range - $101,000.00 - $179,000.00 CAD
