THE ROLE

We're building the future of creative technology, and we need a Lead Cloud Technologist to architect and deploy the systems that power it. You'll design and implement cutting-edge cloud infrastructure for creative studios – graphical workstations, high-performance storage, rendering pipelines, and the foundations that enable AI-enhanced workflows. This is a hands-on technical role. You'll be writing infrastructure code, deploying production systems, and solving complex problems for our clients daily. Working closely with our Head of Technology and founding team, you'll help create the infrastructure backbone that enables studios to push creative boundaries.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Studio Infrastructure Development

● Design and deploy cloud infrastructure for creative studios on AWS, including graphical workstations, storage systems, identity management, and rendering pipelines.

● Build reusable infrastructure-as-code templates using CDK/Terraform for rapid studio provisioning and disaster recovery

● Configure and maintain creative software licensing, render farm orchestration, and pipeline integrations . Cloud-Native Engineering

● Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and observability systems

● Work with AWS services including Lambda, Step Functions, ECS, S3, and FSx

● Maintain and improve our deployment patterns and operational runbooks

Customer Solutions & Technical Delivery

● Translate customer requirements into scalable cloud architectures

● Contribute to solution design, architecture diagrams, and implementation planning

● Execute technical implementations from initial deployment through to production handover Support & Communication

● Provide expert support to our clients and internal teams

● Communicate clearly across disciplines and skill levels

● Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational best practices.

WHAT YOU BRING

● 5+ years of AWS experience with services including EC2, IAM, S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS, CloudWatch, and modern DevOps tooling (Terraform, CDK, Docker)

● Strong scripting and automation skills in Python or similar – you write clean, maintainable code for infrastructure automation and tooling

● Deep Linux experience across multiple distributions

● Infrastructure-as-code expertise – you've built and maintained production systems using CDK, Terraform, or similar

● Networking fundamentals – VPCs, security groups, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity

● Familiarity with creative tools (e.g., Nuke, Houdini, Maya, Flame, Deadline) or adjacent systems in HPC/visualisation – we value diverse technical backgrounds

● Startup mindset – you thrive in fast-paced environments, wear multiple hats, and aren't afraid to dive into unfamiliar territory.

NICE-TO-HAVE

● Experience with GPU workloads and rendering infrastructure

● Ansible & Packer for automated AMI creation and configuration management

● Experience with container orchestration (ECS, EKS, or similar)

● Background in VFX, architecture, life sciences, gaming, or interactive media

● Familiarity with render management systems like Deadline, Qube, or Tractor.
