Law Clerk, Real Estate and Construction (12-Month Contract)
Be an Early Applicant
Support Magna's Global Real Estate team by drafting, reviewing, and administering commercial real estate and construction documentation (leases, NDAs, estoppels, consents). Assist with due diligence, RFP assembly, facilities database maintenance, project closeouts, lease interpretation, and cross-functional coordination with Tax, Risk, HSE and IT. Provide timely guidance and build relationships across Magna Groups.

About the Role
The Law Clerk, Real Estate and Construction is responsible for collaborating and supporting the Magna Global Real Estate Team on a wide range of real estate and construction matters with a focus on supporting the administration of leases and construction documents, and reviewing and drafting real estate documentation and correspondence, for both owned and leased properties, which are primarily industrial. In addition, the person in this role is responsible for supporting the legal team and the teams that oversee project development, management and construction services. This position reports directly to the Director, Real Estate.

About the Role
The Law Clerk, Real Estate and Construction is responsible for collaborating and supporting the Magna Global Real Estate Team on a wide range of real estate and construction matters with a focus on supporting the administration of leases and construction documents, and reviewing and drafting real estate documentation and correspondence, for both owned and leased properties, which are primarily industrial. In addition, the person in this role is responsible for supporting the legal team and the teams that oversee project development, management and construction services. This position reports directly to the Director, Real Estate.
Your Responsibilities
- Salary: $50,000 - $70,000
- Immediate, open position
- Draft, revise and review documentation including correspondence to landlords, tenant estoppels, subordination, attornment and non-disturbance agreements, non-disclosure agreements, surrender agreements, parking agreements, access agreements and licenses.
- Review diligence materials and other real property legal documentation and prepare summary reports, memorandums and other correspondence.
- Assist in the administration of leases, including preparing document packages for landlord consent requests and managing the landlord consent request process for properties leased by Magna.
- Assist with the review, drafting and assembly of requests for proposal for all types of real estate transactions.
- Collaborate with the legal team in the review of real estate agreements.
- Collaborate with internal information technology team and all Groups to maintain facilities data base for quarterly reporting to executive leadership team, investor relations and marketing.
- Prepare document package for project completion and close out.
- Respond to lease interpretation inquiries and other day-to-day tenant operational queries.
- Ensure all necessary internal approvals have been obtained and properly documented in accordance with real estate policies for all real estate transactions.
- Provide guidance to Magna Groups and Divisions on global real estate policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Provide timely response to regular queries relating to real estate matters raised by Magna Groups and Divisions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Magna Groups and Divisions and with Magna Corporate departments, including the Tax, Risk Management, Health and Safety and Environmental departments.

Your preferred qualifications
- Completion of Law Clerk program or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in a law clerk or administrative assistant position, preferably within industrial real estate
- Advanced computer skills employing a variety of software applications, including word processing and database management
- Background in commercial real estate
