The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:

$80,000 - $95,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• System Integration: Develop and maintain projects within Inductive Automation's Ignition platform (Perspective/Vision modules).
• Data Management: Manage and optimize time-series data storage using InfluxDB and SQL databases.
• Visualization: Design and deploy high-level dashboards in Grafana for real-time monitoring of OEE, downtime, and cycle times.
• Edge Connectivity: Configure and troubleshoot MQTT Sparkplug B, OPC-UA, and Modbus protocols to bridge the gap between shop-floor PLCs and the cloud/server.
• Scripting & Automation: Write Python (Jython) scripts within Ignition and utilize Node-RED or similar tools for middleware logic.
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
• Comply with the requirements of CTPAT/PIP
• Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
• Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF-16949 standards
• Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
• Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
• Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
• Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:

• Completion of Bachelor's degree in computer science with emphasis on software development, cloud integration, API development, and data analytics

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in IoT or Industrial Automation
• Proven experience with Ignition; Core Certification is an asset

SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge of InfluxDB (Flux/InfluxQL) and traditional RDBMS like Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in building complex, user-friendly Grafana dashboards.
• Solid understanding of MQTT, OPC-UA, and TCP/IP networking within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Experience with Docker or containerization for deploying IoT edge modules.
• Familiarity with PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff).
• Knowledge of REST APIs for integrating manufacturing data with ERP systems
