Are you a passionate and detail-oriented product designer who loves building scalable design systems that empower teams and create great user experiences? We’re looking for an Intermediate Experience Designer focused on design systems to join us at Thinkific.
As an Intermediate Experience Designer on our Design Systems team, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our platform. You’ll help evolve and maintain a design system that ensures consistency, usability, and accessibility across Thinkific’s learning commerce experience. Your contributions will support product designers, engineers, and content designers, making it easier for teams to build intuitive and inclusive experiences for course creators and their students around the world. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teammates to build high-quality components, maintain design libraries in Figma, and advocate for consistency and craft across the product.

Your goal will be to strengthen and scale Thinkific’s Design System so teams can move faster, stay aligned, and deliver accessible, high-quality experiences across our platform. Here’s how you’ll accomplish this:

  • Evolve and maintain Thinkific’s Design System, helping refine core components, patterns, and documentation to support quality and scalability across the product
  • Create and maintain reusable libraries, templates, and tokens in Figma, ensuring everything is organized, accessible, and ready for use across teams
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, researchers, and content designers to align systems work with product needs and user goals
  • Apply accessibility and inclusive design standards across components, contributing to an experience that works for a diverse range of users
  • Contribute to design critiques and team reviews, offering thoughtful feedback and supporting the adoption of best practices
  • Work within established guidelines while helping identify opportunities to improve our system through craft, documentation, or design tooling
  • Bring a systems mindset to your work, thinking about how your contributions can scale and support consistent experiences across different parts of the platform

The person we have in mind likely:

  • Have 2–4+ years of experience in product or experience design, with a strong interest or experience contributing to design systems
  • Share a portfolio that shows your ability to create, maintain, or contribute to design libraries or systems
  • Are highly skilled in Figma, with experience building components, styles, tokens, and templates
  • Enjoy collaborating closely with cross-functional teammates including Product, Engineering, and Content
  • Are committed to accessibility and inclusive design, and strive to make your work usable for all
  • Are excited to keep learning and growing in your craft

These things would also be nice, but we think you could learn them on the job:

  • Experience designing for the needs of scaling or enterprise customers, including workflows involving multiple users, roles, and permissions
  • Experience in planning and setting up user research programs and synthesizing research at scale
  • Familiarity with mobile app experiences, having designed them previously
  • A fundamental understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript and can work with engineers effectively
  • Experience in conducting heuristic evaluations on existing interfaces

We’re committed to fair and transparent pay that reflects both where you’re at and where you can grow. The recruitment compensation range for this position is $75,000 – $113,000 CAD in Canada, designed to capture the full journey from developing skills to excelling in the position. Salaries above the midpoint are typically reserved for team members who have demonstrated strong, consistent performance, deep expertise, and a significant positive impact within the role.

For high-demand or hard-to-fill positions like this one, we may hire above the midpoint for candidates who bring exceptional experience, skills, or impact potential.
