About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Accountant to join our small but mighty Finance & Accounting team at CadMakers! You will be responsible to record, review, manage, analyze, and report on a wide array of accounting and tax day-to-day, monthly, quarterly, and year-end activities and obligations, and your role will continue to progress and evolve as CadMakers progresses and evolves. You will gain experience in all areas of our business and continuously develop your own knowledge, skills, and abilities.

As the third member of our Finance & Accounting team, you will report to the Director, Finance & Administration and work alongside our Accounting & Payroll Lead. 🧮 Our team is so much more than meets the eye and more than the colloquial "bean counters" or "number crunchers"; while accuracy and attention-to-detail are critical in any role as an accountant, we also strive to understand the very core of our business. We are lucky to be in the unique position to see all financial data, so our true value lies in remaining current about what is going on around us, both internally across all departments and externally to CadMakers, so that we can help our teammates make the best data-informed decisions they can to keep running a sustainable and great company.

Responsibilities

  • Review day-to-day accounting entries and processes to ensure compliance with all applicable frameworks, standards and regulations as well as our internal reporting requirements
  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly and year-end activities including month end account reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, etc.
  • Organize and analyze financial data; prepare and review reports for various stakeholders, and provide valuable insights
  • Work regularly with department leaders to help them track and manage their departments to ensure overall success as an organization; this includes budgeting, forecasting and KPI tracking and reporting
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teammates on organizational policies, procedures, best practices, etc.
  • Remain current with our business activities to help ensure all domestic and international compliance requirements are being met; this includes preparing relevant filings for sales and corporate taxes

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent required; Professional CPA or similar designation preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive work-related accounting experience, ideally with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting, tax, and audit frameworks, practices, and applications
  • Highly tech-savvy and prefers automation over manual, when effective and possible
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Inquisitive, proactive, and able to exercise tact & discretion
  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to bring innovative solutions from own research, investigations, and analyses
  • Understanding of accounting systems and experience extracting, analyzing, and transferring data is an asset
  • Previous experience with cross-border business transactions an asset
  • CadMakers values in-person collaboration; all our teammates work in our Burnaby office at least 3 days a week, and more from time-to-time when required to meet operational needs

Benefits

Salary, Term & Working Location

  • Intermediate or Senior job title (TBD - looking for the right fit) with starting salary between $75,000 - $100,000 CAD (commensurate with relevant experience). Competitive benefits.
