The Instructional Designer creates engaging learning activities and course content, collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure effective delivery and assessment mechanisms.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning activities and compelling course content in cooperation with subject matter experts from the FME business, regionally and potentially globally.
This position is one of a team supporting Learning Service Delivery within a Regional Learning Delivery hub or center and supports the Global Learning Service Delivery Strategy
Responsibilities:
- Apply best practices in learning technologies and instructional design • Work with subject matter experts to identify required learning outcomes and target learner populations.
- Identify the most appropriate and effective delivery mechanisms (e-learning, virtual classroom, face-to-face etc.)
- Set instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- For e-learning and video, design via scripts and/or storyboards, develop media assets using Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and develop eLearning using Storyline.
- Provide learner interactivity (exercises, activities etc.) that enhance the learning process and learner experience
- Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course and attainment of knowledge and other specified learner outcomes.
- Identify poor quality and/or outdated learning content and offer recommendations for improvement or replacement.
- Ensure the alignment of new content implementation as required. Including identification prerequisites and related/interdependent courses as defined by curriculum requirements.
- Maintain project documentation, version control and course folders
Qualifications:
- BA or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field; Certification in Instructional Design (preferred but not required)
- Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
- Instructional design and media development abilities and instincts that show potential for growth
- Ability to follow specific directions
- Ability to curate key instructional points from a variety of available source materials and conversations with subject matter experts
- Ability to organize ideas into a logical sequence that teaches as it tells a story
- Ability to write clear, concise scripts using compelling and engaging language
- Working knowledge or awareness of eLearning and media production (images, audio, video) applications, such as Storyline, Photoshop, Audition, and Premiere
