Summary

The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing enterprise infrastructure solutions that support business objectives, operational excellence, security, scalability, and performance. This role provides strategic direction for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and technology roadmaps. The Infrastructure Architect collaborates closely with IT leadership, engineering teams, security teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to develop resilient and cost-effective infrastructure solutions that enable organizational growth and digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise infrastructure architecture roadmap.
  • Design scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  • Define infrastructure standards, best practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Align infrastructure architecture with business objectives, security requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.

Infrastructure Engineering & Operations

  • Provide architectural guidance for server, storage, virtualization, networking, and endpoint technologies.
  • Ensure infrastructure designs meet performance, availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements.
  • Partner with operational teams to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and develop long-term solutions.
  • Review and approve infrastructure designs, configurations, and implementation plans.

Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to integrate security-by-design principles.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with corporate security policies and industry regulations.
  • Evaluate and implement identity, access management, network security, and data protection controls.
  • Participate in risk assessments and remediation planning.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Engage with business and technology leaders to understand strategic requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical architecture solutions.
  • Present architectural recommendations, roadmaps, and investment proposals to executive stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to infrastructure engineers and technical teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud architecture, or enterprise architecture.
  • 3+ years of experience designing enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and infrastructure security best practices.
  • Experience in disaster recovery, high availability, and business continuity planning.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
