About the role.
We are seeking an experienced HR Specialist to join us in Coaldale, AB. This position will report directly to the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP). The HR Specialist is responsible for providing local HR support in four main areas leveraging knowledge of local / regional / cultural nuances and handling unique language and time zone requirements.
  1. Employee Engagement / Employee Experience / Retention
  2. Talent Acquisition and onboarding of High-Volume roles (Plant, Manufacturing and related) and internal recruitment process
  3. Manage in-scope employee leave of absence process

In addition to these three main areas of support, HR Specialist plays a key role in supporting all HR activities, programs, and projects in support of our Winning Culture Strategy.
The HR Specialist is part of the plant HR team, with dotted line reporting to Service Delivery Manager and a member of the HR Specialist community of practice. HR Specialist are on site-roles. 1.
What you'll be doing.
  • Support managers and employees with employee and / or labour relations issues. Activities may include(but not limited to) conducting investigations, managing appeals, addressing misconduct, issuing corrective action
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition as appropriate and scoped within the region to execute local high volume employee recruitment efforts, such as maintaining job requisitions, running talent acquisition events, proactively sourcing candidates, and developing / maintaining the local candidate pool(s), and managing internal posting process
  • Execute onboarding of new hires in collaboration with local site team
  • In line with legal requirements, process voluntary and involuntary separations for in-scope employees, mitigating any potential risks, manage in-scope life cycle processes and leaves of absences/accommodations to deploy employee wellness initiatives
  • Employee Relations / Labour Relations, including investigations and corrective actions
  • Share insights and trends with key stakeholders to drive more effective / efficient HR customer service delivery
  • Ensuring HR Operating Model is adhered to, and high level of employee self-service and HR Now adoption rates are maintained
  • Plays a role in supporting business and HR activities, initiatives programs, and projects in support of our winning culture
  • Manage in-scope employee leave of absence process, including working closely with vendor, and initiating the leave of absence within the HR system. Examples include Short Term Disability
  • Work with Occupational Health Lead on gradual return to work plans.

  • Absenteeism rates, turnover rates, vacancy rates
  • SLA adherence and systems maintenance, ensuring data is correct in system

Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience as a HR Generalist or related progressive HR experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field preferred
  • Professional Human Resources certification is considered an asset

Reporting to the HR Business Partner, the HR Specialist is an individual contributor to the department while maintaining a strong cross functional relationship with business stakeholders, leaders, and personnel.

Compensation Package : $58,800.00 - $78,500.00 . CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
