The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the financial planning, management, and reporting functions of the organization. This role involves providing strategic financial guidance to senior management, ensuring the company's financial health and compliance, and optimizing financial performance to support business objectives.


This role will oversee and build FP&A, accounting and treasury teams. The Head of Finance will partner closely with leaders across the company to help shape strategies and priorities across the company. This person will lead, grow, and inspire a team of seasoned finance professionals, while working across the broader team to enable and deliver Waabi’s strategic and financial goals. Responsibilities will include all facets of strategic planning, forecasting and corporate planning, short-term forecasting, long term planning, cash flow, capital allocation, while driving thought leadership and best practices. 


You will…

- Budgeting and Forecasting: Comprehensive budget preparation and oversight, involving the development of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Regularly collaborate with leadership, working together to monitor and adjust budgets as needed to protect cash flow.

- Financial Reporting: Produce accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Monitor and report on financial performance against budget and make necessary adjustments. Present financial results to the executive team and board of directors. Manage month end close and generate monthly financial statements.

- Cash Management: Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships. Optimize working capital and minimize financial costs. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash flow projections and reconciliations.

- Long term financing planning: Work closely with the leadership on pro-forma modeling, planning, investor communications and fundraising activities.

- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements. Stay current with industry best practices.

- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks. Implement effective internal controls to safeguard the company's assets.

- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making. Evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives.

- Financial Systems: Develop, enhance, and refine financial systems and procedures; aligning them with industry best practices while tailoring them to the company's distinct requirements.

- Team Leadership: Lead by example in developing, motivating, recruiting, and retaining a highly effective finance team. Inspire change and collaboration among a diverse and distributed team. Encourage sharing of best practices and insights across all members of the team.


Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent; MBA, CFA, and/or CPA certification preferred.

- 15+ years of progressive experience in senior finance leadership positions, collaborating closely with executives.

- 10+ years of finance leadership experience preferably within the technology industry in the US or Canada.

- Comprehensive understanding of financial management, analysis, tools and reporting methodologies.

- Strong expertise in financial regulations, accounting principles, and taxation.

- Experience in developing internal controls and financial processes.

- Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

- Experience and excitement in supporting a dynamic, high-growth environment.

- Adherence to high ethical standards and integrity.


The US yearly salary range for this role is: $221,000 - $297,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi’s yearly salary ranges are determined based on several factors in accordance with the Company’s compensation practices. The salary base range is reflective of the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Note: The Company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
