Position: Game Designer
Report to: Lead Game Designer
Department:  EAI Game 
Hiring Level: Experienced
Location: 5 East 8th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1R6 (fully on-site)

Game Style: Mobile Game 3D 

Employment Terms:

  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience: Initial 3-month contract
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience: Initial 1-year contract
  • More than 3 years of relevant experience: Permanent position

Note: Contract durations are subject to individual assessment and may vary based on specific qualifications and experience.

Hiring Processes:
1. Resume & Showreel/Portfolio review;

Responsibilities:

  • Feature Design: Develop game system features and create design documents as directed by the Lead Designer.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with programmers and artists to monitor progress and ensure desired outcomes.
  • System Design: Oversee the design of core game systems, including gameplay mechanics and system functionalities.
  • Documentation: Prepare gameplay and system function documents, along with related art resource requirements, ensuring the final in-game functionality meets expectations.
  • Project Management: Drive system projects to completion, liaising with art and programming teams to ensure timely delivery.
  • Testing and Acceptance: Conduct product testing for assigned projects, regularly inspect the game for issues, and address any deficiencies.
  • Other tasks assigned by the team.

Requirements:

  • Passion for Gaming: A deep enthusiasm for games, with extensive gaming experience and unique insights into game design.​
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other Office software; familiarity with the Unity game engine.
  • Professional Competence: Strong logical thinking, effective communication skills, excellent execution, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Project Experience: Experience in mobile game design.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada without any sponsorship from the employer.
