POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst, Employee Benefits & Retirement is responsible for the key internal financial reporting deliverables and financial analysis within the Western Canadian regions of HUB. Based in British Columbia, Alberta or Manitoba, the Financial Accountant will be part Hub’s Western Canadian Finance team and will report to the VP Finance/Director of Finance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide financial and operational reporting and analysis in order to support business decisions and/or as requested by Management.
Identify, investigate and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics.
Assist with key financial reporting processes and journal entries, from closure of broker management systems to preparation of internal financial statements.
Ensure issues are resolved timely and accurately, while working to subsequently address root cause to mitigate future incidents.
Collaborate with the other regional finance team members to identify best practices and to ensure consistency within the National Employee Benefits & Retirement practice.
Assist with annual budget and monthly forecasting processes.
Liaise between Finance and Operations concerning transaction processing and reporting in the broker management system.
Build and maintain positive working relationships.
Other duties as identified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of internal financial reporting and/or financial analysis experience
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis on accounting. Related experience may offset this requirement.
A firm understanding of accounting and financial concepts and controls surrounding accounting functions.
Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
History of balancing multiple priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines
Experience in a shared services accounting environment preferred
Insurance brokerage experience preferred
Flexibility in working schedule to meet deadlines and support a team

The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
